I offer three possible explanations worthy of the high intellectual caliber of the series:

Explanation #1: (suave yet rugged voice, speaking with a Spanish accent) “I do not always take off my cowl when I am invisible and climbing down my perfectly visible rope holding my perfectly visible gun, but when I do it’s because I am drinking a Dos Equis…”

When they showed the photo the infrared camera had taken, it looked to me like someone had simply cut out Carter’s face from one photograph and pasted it over the Wizard’s head on another. This leads me to Explanation #2: Fearful that his invisibility might fail at any moment, the Wizard decided to disguise himself by wearing a mask of his identical twin brother’s face. That way, if he became visible, everyone would think it was his twin who was the Wizard and not him.

Explanation #3: The Wizard’s cowl was in fact one of the alien clothing parasites from Kill la Kill, trying to infiltrate a new world. Unfortunately, the infrared bulb happened to produce precisely the frequency of infrared that disintegrates these alien parasites. This, coupled with the fact that everyone in this world keeps their clothing in metal filing cabinets–also fatal to the parasites–led them to abandon their plans to invade that dimension…

Okay, enough, on to

The short version:

All the scheduled episodes arrived and played (after 24 hours of initial technical difficulties on the part of TWC), and all were–at least by Slowhand’s reckoning–the right episodes! (I still plaintively maintain we should be getting Season One of To Love Ru Darkness and not Season Two.) Cobra #9 & 10, like the others, are fine on the Cutting Edge side, but missing their title and description data on the On Demand side. But all the episodes except for Frame Arm Girls #1 & 2 are missing their promos and Groaning Mechas.

(When we were last at the Sentai High Sports Festival, the Decently Clad Club was on the verge of total triumph, with To Love Ru Darkness the only member of the Streakers Society who had not been captured and converted. But thanks to a shipment of infrared bulbs sent by the Professor from his secret workshop via his latest invention, the Dimension Smasher, the tables were turned, with only the Frame Arm Girls remaining clad–and that was because they weren’t really wearing clothing but snap-on plastic armor instead. This has led to a spirited debate as to whether they should be members of the Decently Clad Club, members of the Streakers Society, or should form their own Plastic Clad Cadre…)

I’m envious. I wonder if this is the same as the “Leisurely Railway Journey Across Japan” I see in the listings for TV Japan. (I’m too cheap to subscribe to a channel I can’t understand; I just check the listings.)

I only ever got to see a few episodes of Cycle Around Japan before they stopped showing it. Nine or ten months later they started showing us Cycle Around Japan Highlights, which looked pretty much like what I remembered of Cycle Around Japan. Are there any significant differences I’m not remembering?

The short version:

All the scheduled episodes have arrived and play on both Cutting Edge and On Demand. But, like last week, everyone except for Frame Arm Girls #3 & 4 are missing their promos and Groaning Mechas.

All the Cobra episodes on On Demand, including all of the ones from past weeks, now have their title and description data, though in several cases the description is just the generic show description–“A renowned space pirate retires to become an ordinary person”, which is not exactly accurate but par for the course for a lot of series on the On Demand side.

(At the Sentai High Sports Festival, the Decently Clad Club is having a surprising amount of difficulty with the Frame Arm Girls, because their gloves, leggings and fringe skirts are too full of circuitry and too integrated with their armor systems to provide the aliens with any entry points. However, a nefarious plot is afoot…)

Is (probably) early for you, is (definitely) late for me (I had a bad, sleepless night), was bad shipment for me, so a short version before I go back to counting sheep:

I’m guessing everything scheduled arrived, plus an unscheduled hitchhiker: Revue Starlight #7

Four of the scheduled episodes are faulty and unplayable: Chihaya III #3, Kanamemo #13, Long Riders #8, & Revue Starlight #6 are all zero-length episodes according to Cutting Edge, 1-minute episodes according to On Demand, brief bits of blackness according to eye.

On a lesser note, three episodes have their promos and Groaning Mechas–Frame Arm Girl #5 & 6, and Magical Girl Site #1 (love the premise, but do I need to be further depressed? if so, mightn’t more Puella Magi Madoka Magica be a better choice?)–all the rest are missing their promos and Groaning Mechas.

(4) There’s one additional wrinkle I just noticed: Chihayafuru II #23 & Ahiru no Sora #50, which should have expired at midnight (alongside Chihayafuru II #24 & Ahiru no Sora #49, which did expire on schedule) have had their expiration dates reset to 3/17–the same as this week’s incoming episodes. This strongly suggests that fresh copies of Chihayafuru II #23 & Ahiru no Sora #50 were included in this week’s shipment.

(Of course, as per my usual M.O. I started these four episodes–and a lot of the other expiring episodes–just before midnight to squeeze out an extra 24 hours of viewing time, so I currently have those in my In Progress list–but that’s neither here nor there.)

Do the four short “black flicker” episodes also indicate a runtime length of 0 minutes on your Cutting Edge? If I had to guess, when they bundled these for shipping they left out the actual episodes and just sent us the empty episode wrapper and the metadata…
