Blog Archive: 2009-2014

I got a question related to the newsletter, is there a delay when its sent out. Or did I miss a checkbox to get newsletters from The Anime Network?

And related to my post comparing Funimation to TAN, most of the stuff Funi puts out is either majority of old titles or minority of weekly simulcats. TAN gives there “semi-simulcasts” titles from crunchyroll free for everybody then premium stream the dub like funimation except they give one episode free to guests. But when the simulcast is exclusive to TAN (EX:Love ru Darkness, Chunibyo), then they give only 1 episode availible for guests and the rest for premiums. <- THIS, I want to change even though I’m a premium subscriber (and Crunchyroll subscriber) I want TAN to get more exposure, which leads to my opinion on them getting a tune up for there player. I’m only looking for stability on 480 and HD, nothing comepletely out of this world XD.

Now related to the content there bringing out in June, its only like 4 titles so far but this can branch out with more titles. Funimation does and thats something good. Ain’t that right “celestial_being” and “shadzar”?

VOD users may experience loss of consciousness!
That happened in May when Penguindrum keeps coming in, Psychic Detective got messed up, and the schedule inst even attempting to be correct, so the headdesk going on for the past 20 days has them comatose already in a drooling state wondering if there is even a point anymore.

or like me, they turned into Hemingway or Poe are just sailing in an out of consciousness through the drunken stupor of trying to figure out what is going on with VOD and if anyone at TAN really cares about it anymore.

out of the 14 VOD titles, i am guessing FVOD users only get 1 of them and the rest are not for the unwashed masses, but SVOD users?

define VOD as used in the sections of the blog?

No, i just ask that the schedule be right and TAN actually gets the VOD content to the viewer. at this point i don’t care what the content is, i would even take Vermillion Porn Nights to show again so long as VOD actually works and the schedule online here for it is correct and the proper shows are pitched and things like Penguindrum that certain viewers shouldnt be getting, don’t come in half-way into the series to waste the precious 30 hour limit to cause the final week of the month to be messed up and content LOST due to excess content that nobody was ready for.

the best VOD initiative any of us could ask for is a correct schedule and delivered content coinciding with the schedule… otherwise known as a stable delivery system. :S

You mean SVOD users right, cause the past quarter of a year FVOD users, aka the unwashed masses as someone else terms us, get none of what is ever in the blog, or maybe as mentioned before, a single series.

Someone should go through these blogs and see what was advertised as “coming this month” and compare it to what FVOD users actually got to know if the blogs and lineup has ANYTHING to do with FVOD users at all or if it and the website is solely for SVOD users as opposed to the unwashed masses?

:angry:

This is probably the best thing ever, though from my personal feedback as a premium member I think there should be a way to bring this out for guest members as well. Similar to Funimation’s way of streaming is, “subtitled watch is free, dub watch requires a fee”. Or crunchyroll’s way of having an episode free week by week, but compared too TAN bringing it all out at once brings a HUGE mental desire to subscribe without making it similar to Xbox Live gold which you basically need to even enjoy the system. I liked how TAN did semi-simulcasts of shows streamed on Crunchyroll which were available free to stream and with high odds of dubs basically being available for a premium membership. Overall, I love this new way of bringing content which is evolving to how modern anime streaming sites are doing today. BUT!!! In the eyes of guest members that want to support the site but don’t have the cash at hand should at least have shows to support.

How about weekly, you give a subtitled episode available to guests for free when you bring the whole show dub an sub on the site.

Any other opinions?

…“subtitled watch is free, dub watch requires a fee”…
For the most part, this is how it works, since a lot of the sub stuff, is already up and has been since it’s simulcast/delaycast. Delaycasts are always Free (unless they were TAN exclusives), so if it’s already up, it’s already free.
Dubs are usually Premium w/ Ep. 01 (use to be 01 & 02) free, or on the rare occation all Free when they go up, like Godannar.

True “new” catalog titles tend to be Premium both sub & dub, with a few at some point in the future becoming Free sub/Premuim dub or even free sub & dub.

@The Coffee God

True, but I mostly meant having easier access to TAN exclusive shows. I hear that alot of people dislike exclusivity to premium on TAN since the player is a bit weak along with having to pay for yet another streaming site. I’m not saying that this should happen immediately, its more like a stepping stone to cross.
HERE IS MY BLUEPRINT:

 1. bring lots of shows with no weekly ep. wait.
 2. Update TAN player for both Free and Premium users.
 3. re work on site for stability.
 4. Have easier access of content for free members to test and decide if they want to subscribe for premium.

Don’t have anything else to type about yet since I’m prepping for bed since my job starts early morn. :S CHAIO FOR NOW!

Well, we are thinking about doing something like this, it’s just a matter of logistics. We’re tweaking thing sright now to try to get to a point where we feel everyone is being accomodated fairly, and right now this sort of “beta” where we are releasing whole shows for premium users is just the start of where we want to go. Thanks for your feedback!

@Rai

Well this “beta” is by far the best I have ever participated in since FFXIV ARR!!! :woohoo:

I hope my opinion does not sound like some anime pirate that wants entirely free content.

Its just that there are other people out there with stricter judgement on what show to buy, or site to stream besides me who immediately budget some cash and clicked the subscribe button :lol: .
And with this new system going on, it would have not changed my mind back then to a negative decision. By all means take your time (NOT LIKE YEARS OR SO :stuck_out_tongue: },

As I said before it won’t happen overnight. So forth, you have my support on keeping my subscription to this site for years to come :wink: .

This is probably the first time I’ve commented on a decision TAN has made but I have to say that putting all of a season’s episodes up all at once is 'FLAT OUT AWESOME!!." Thanks guys.

I agree. Putting all of a show up at once is the right call IMO.
