Evolution Appointed as North American Licensing and Merchandising Agent for LBX

May 26th 2015

I’m not sure how that works as if it isn’t from Japan, it ain’t anime and the Japanese anime companies don’t much care about foreign markets, certainly not enough to market anime exclusively to us.

Anno commenting on anime imploding is rather ironic as he was a major contributor to the trend of most anime being marketed to and exclusively made for a small and ever-insular group of otaku :frowning:

I do agree that progressing to keep that backlog small helps. Don’t buy so much if you can’t keep up. I recommend breaking it down by Publisher. That’s what I do. Sentai Filmworks, Section23 Films/ADV Films, Funimation, etc. There’s still some ADV and Funimation titles I haven’t watched yet myself and I’m currently in the process of watching my latest Sentai Filmwork purchases. When that number hits zero then I’ll move on to the next company. Sometimes though, since I don’t own that much, I might mix it up once in a while.

Another thing worth noting is if you bought titles you streamed or saw before, ignore them for now. They don’t count.

The old days? Does that mean the pre-moeblob days? If so, they’re going to have to up their bid as the old guard, like the old man in Shirobako, probably can’t work for $1150/month

Maybe it’s just my monitor, but the optical illusion of the black sleeve (bridal gauntlet?) on the black BG gets me every time.

Hey, you “liked the anime from the old days”, get paid like it was the old days…

The Set List: Top 10 OPs of 2009

Japan NEET Population Sees a Decrease for 2nd Year

posted on 2015-06-09 14:15 EDT by Carlos Cadorniga

I wonder how reliable the Japanese unemployment numbers are, but any decrease in the NEET population is a good thing IMO as I hope that with fewer NEETs, anime will swing back around to targeting the “mainstream”.

Though I won’t be surprised if anime, in desperation, pulls out all the stops and panders to the dwindling NEET population, to the point that the mainstream is completely alienated, before the industry “sees the light” and goes more mainstream again.

On The Set List I really wish that ANN would just provide a text list for this as ain't nobody got time to slog through a 15:43 podcast. Also, Hope Chapman sounds too much like the Asian mechanic in CBS' Scorpion for me.

I agree wholeheartedly with this.

Sanrio Stores Heading to U.S. Universal Studios Theme Parks

posted on 2015-06-09 16:15 EDT by Lynzee Loveridge

I highly doubt it’ll change anime all that much if any, as the NEET status in itself grants an easy viable story/plot device for those that choose to use it.

That’s true. I’m hoping that it’ll change if the NEET population gets too low as I’m thinking that shows that glorify NEETs really appeal primarily to NEETs. I want to believe that lol.

yeah, right. and the U.S. unemployment rate IS 5.4%.
You believe that, then I got some of Saddam’s WMDs for ya.
LOL…

Are those the ones that were left piled on that bridge in Brooklyn? :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

I don’t usually read government reports for anything other than entertainment anymore. The NEET poplulation in Japan may actually have declined or someone in Japan’s version of a Labor Bureau may have cooked the numbers. I doubt it will have any immediate impact on Anime production.

On a more positive note, I expect the new Sanrio Store at Universal will be on the Citywalk.
