Really? They got you with that too? RightStuf has been trolling me with the blind bargain buys by making every 2 items the same. 2 copies of the second thin pack of Gantz (oh ADV, why did you do that…) and now two copies of the Tenchi movie collection. Whenever I start to lose faith in the blind buys they do something interesting like making their rescue release of Utena a bargain10 item. Of course it was set 2 and I’ve been too scared to watch it but it is still interesting…

Well, I only had one of the three movies anyway, so I have two new movies to watch. (plus the Case Closed one)
The only tenchi that I’ve seen have been War on Geminar and a dew eps of Duel (which I didn’t even know was tenchi for years). So I’ve got several copies of movies for a aeries that I know nothing about. Lols.

I was really hoping that they’d put some outtakes on here. I’d bet money that there were some scenes recorded with an Eric Cartman impersonation. Maybe they’ll, like bang/zoom outtakes, appear at some con panel someday.

So the new DBZ Blu-rays did end up being Orange box 2.0? Funimation never learns not sure why they keep trying when the best anyone is going to be able to do is the Dragon Box masters. There really is only so much you can get out of 16mm film. From what I heard is they want to make it easier for modern TV broadcast.

I think that they might be worse than the orange box. Funimation says that these blurays have 6 times the detail of the dvds, which means that the awful visuals are 6 times more obvious. In some ways the Rock the Dragon dvds actually look better. The “Level Sets” looked way better.
Screen is cropped vertically, the colors are unnaturally bright and the contrast has been really cranked up, color seems to “bleed over” the lines and some scenes have the detail all blurred: they look like they were “filmed” with the old live-action trick of putting vaseline over the lens of the camera. I think that I’ve become a sort of “HD snob” but this looks so bad that even those who swear that I’d bet that even those who swear they can’t see the difference between bluray and dvd would say this video sucks.
This showed up the other day.
