A. There are a lot of factors that go into that decision, but the two of the biggest factors are: 1. Viewership numbers on legal streaming sites 2. Fan demand (It makes no sense to a dub a show that people aren’t clamoring for.)
Q. Do you love me Sentai? Do you notice me?
A. Love is subjective, but this has been noticed.

These ladies are willing to teach a thing or two, and won’t hesitate to punish you if you get out of line. With powerful personalities, these ladies like to dominate those around them, including their lovers. These are just a few of the badass anime girls who want to discipline you and want to make you love them. They might be a hero or a villain (depending on who you ask), but at the end of the day, they just want to be loved.
###Saeko Busujima (High School of the Dead)
Shown at first as a well-mannered and cultured young woman, Saeko is the one the others go to when in need. However, she hides a somewhat sadistic nature behind this demure exterior. After certain events before the apocalypse, she fights to defend herself and discovers that she enjoys inflicting pain. She takes pleasure in fighting “them” because she can unleash her sadistic nature. Takashi accepts this side of her and even tells her that he will take responsibility for her sadism.
###Freya (Is It Wrong to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon)
Freya is sly and cunning, reveling in power for the sake of it. Considered one of the most beautiful and graceful goddesses, she has a surprisingly sadistic nature. Unfortunately for Bell, she finds him fascinating, thus places him in life threatening situations to see him grow. The type of woman to manipulate and punish from the shadows, she’s discreet in her affairs. Be careful it isn’t you she likes.
###Rachnera Arachnera (Monster Musume)
Seeded with hatred towards people given her past captivity, this half-spider woman loathes humans’ hypocrisy. After kidnapping Kimihito, she realizes that not all humans are evil. However, as a skilled Mistress, she still loves to punish her toys when they have done something wrong (or just because she wants to). As one of the more mature monster girls, she will readily give you a lecture… Just make sure you can survive her exotic ‘diversions’.
###Rory Mercury (GATE)
The youngest looking of the group, but one of the strongest, Rory loves to throw people off guard with her appearance. Deriving pleasure from the battlefield, this little lady knows how to handle an axe. From her job as a priestess, to her attraction to Itami, she never backs down from getting what she desires. Seductive and playful, menacing and ruthless, she loves to punish everyone, but don’t get on her bad side, or you’ll end up dead instead of her next toy of pleasure.
###Esdeath (Akame Ga Kill)
Esdeath is undeniably the Queen of Sadists. A gorgeous woman with an appetite for war, strength means everything to her and is something she prizes above all else. When she sees Tatsumi’s strength, her need to tame a stronger man kicks in. Behind her warlike persona, she is just a woman looking for love, for a man who can equal her power. Her punishments are harsh but, generally, pleasurable.

When Hotaru Tachibana storms into a host club to avenge the honor of a wronged female student, the last thing Hotaru expects is to duel the club’s most popular host with airsoft guns instead of fists. When Masamune Matsuoka’s experience wins out over Tachibana’s brawn, he realizes that he can use his victory (and the large bill for damaging the club) to make Tachibana join his struggling Survival Gaming team. However, what ladies’ man Masamune totally misses is that his unwilling new guy… isn’t a guy at all! Under the boy’s clothing and strong need to defend justice, Tachibana is all-girl, but, for a number of complicated reasons, she absolutely CAN’T expose that fact to Masamune or his teammate, the erotic manga artist Toru Yukimura. Blood will boil both on and off the airsoft arena, but it’s not over until the last round is shot in AOHARU X MACHINEGUN!

###SAD ANIME DRAMA TO WATCH WHEN YOU JUST WANT TO FEEL SOMETHING

Sometimes you just want to have a good cry. We have gathered our favorite sad anime drama to watch for those days when you just want to feel. These stories are eloquent in the way they destroy the nonsense of our everyday lives.
###Angel Beats
The story takes place in a school but in reality, (SPOILER ALERT) it’s Limbo. The place souls go after they have passed away. Unfortunately, this isn’t Paradise, but a place where a soul must overcome their regrets in order to pass on. As the characters battle it out, we see the tragic stories that led them to limbo, and, yes, we were sobbing!
In this story where the supernatural and reality collide, a boy and a girl outcast by their respective communities have a chance encounter when Mirai is about to commit suicide. As the plot develops, they end up finding solace within each other, culminating into one of the most beautiful tear-jerker endings. Akihito and Mirai’s star-crossed love story brought us tears, and if you want to believe in true love again, this is your baby!
The first season of Clannad is your regular slice-of-life harem anime, with a healthy dose of heartfelt moments and hilarity. When we get to Clannad: After Story. Tomoya finally confesses his feelings and lives out his life with Nagisa. The story takes a drastic turn from its harem origin and starts to go into the deeper workings of their relationship, highlighting Tomoya’s psyche and emotional scars. This classically tragic anime drama comes top of mind to most when a good cry is in order!
A series set at the end of the Edo period, our protagonist, Chizuru, tries to find her father. After a sequence of events, she ends up with the attractive men of the Shinsengumi and their secret clan of warriors. While most harem anime never actually choose a character, this series takes the opposite route. The show picks a leading man, giving us a melancholy-drenched story. This story presents themes of tragic love and fighting for your beliefs until the very end.
Ah, the Game of Thrones in anime. Set in a dystopian world where the empire has started to crumble under a child emperor, we meet Tatsumi, a bright kid, with big aspirations. Unfortunately, reality is a horrible thing, and he is quickly brought to heel in the first episode when he discovers the grisly fate of his two childhood friends. If you thought that was depressing, things only start going downhill from there.
###Colorful: The Motion Picture
A soul ends up in Limbo, and he is told he will be given another chance. The only caveat is that he has to take on the life of a 14-year-old boy, Makoto, who tried commit suicide by overdosing on pills. Throughout the movie, he finds out some depressive things about Makoto’s life and how the people closest to him weren’t who they seemed to be. This film will leave you crying but appreciating this thing we call life.
This is not your typical Studio Ghibli film. This classic sad anime drama makes even the strongest cry. Taking place at the end of WWII, Seito narrates the story of the events leading up to his demise. The whole movie shows the things we are willing to do for the ones we love, and nothing is easy in a time of war. Beautiful, poignant and tragic, this movie will touch your heart.
###Don’t Cry for Too Long!
The point of these anime series and movies are not to be overly depressing, but to show the resilience of the human spirit. ###Gatchaman Crowds insight
You can’t keep a good Gatchaman down, especially when a new organization called VAPE (short for Violent Ape) starts hijacking CROWDS technology. The ensuing wave of “Red CROWDS” incidents targeting high profile targets like the Prime Minister make it clear that the good team needs to start recruiting; fast. Fortunately, help arrives quickly, and with a rather… loud entrance. The alien Gelsadra’s ship crashes in a rice paddy in Nijima! Besides being generally peaceful, Gelsadra has a unique power involving comic-book-like speech bubbles that display a person’s inner feelings, rather like an emoji. There’s also the fireworks enthusiast, Tsubasa, whose life becomes the focus of millions of viewers when she’s chosen as the newest Gatchaman - on nationwide live television! As if that wasn’t enough pressure for a teenage girl to handle, she’s also assigned Hajime as her mentor! Will she survive? Will the world survive? Things are about to get really wild and crazy in GATCHAMAN CROWDS INSIGHT!
