If I didn’t know better, I’d say the new series director basically didn’t want the new crew members introduced in 2199 to come along for the ride as each are basically written out so they can’t go. Nimi gets hurt, Misaki, Kiryuu, Hoshino and, the Asst Engineer all get left behind because they all had to go reroute the dock controls to the ship and tell Kodai to leave without them. It’s really disappointing that they couldn’t be worked somehow into the story better, but this is just a slap in the face
