So what news is there concerning Sentai & the unlimited spinoff series?[/quote]

There is none.
Though seeing as how it’s on CR, there’s a good chance they do have it and just not announced it.

No news is not good news :frowning:

I wish that we could establish a “hard and fast” rule about Sentai & Crunchy; everyone knows that a Sentai blu-ray = Sentai dub, but a Crunchy stream doesn’t mean that Sentai will be publishing it. Total Eclipse, since I guess an example is required, is still in license limbo, despite being on Crunchy :frowning:

In this case, the odds seem high & I agree with your optimistic assessment.

The president of P.A.N.D.R.A. reminds me of Dio from Last Exile, combined (of course) with Magneto. Thus I can’t help but hear him as Greg Ayres, thanks to Funimation.

…I’m also reminded heavily of Index.

Sentai needs to license this. It reminds me a bit of Towanoquon even…a hopefully better Towanoquon, but I’ll have to finish the series first.

I’m hoping that Sentai will pick up and dub The Unlimited sequel. It’s one of the few “new shows” that I’ve seen that still has potential after ep 2.

So far it looks like I can get away with watching The Unlimited without having watched the prequel series. Awww yeah B)

I’m thinking that, maybe, Sentai can license 'n dub The Unlimited & then perhaps that could inspire them to go back and redub the original? Failing that, where are the Australians and the British on this, since Sentai has claimed that demand from them helped inspire Sentai to dub previous sub-only releases. C’mon guys, we need you…now more than ever

That’s because The Unlimited isn’t a sequel, it’s a spinoff series.

#13

Even better. I think that I’ve had more luck with spinoffs than with bona fide sequels, in terms of them not sucking. After buying the rank excrement that was Darker than Black II: Gemini of the Meteor ( ) I’ve been wary of any & all subsequent sequels in anime.

Except for disc 3’s cover art, all the promo stuff for the original series is “loli-tastic”. The spin-off has older dudes as main characters, as well as one “older” female character who reminds me of Jessica Boone’s character for Towanoquon a bit. While there are a zillion little kids in the spin-off, they (so far as I’ve gotten) don’t make up a bulk of the main cast. What happened?

Interesting.

I’m not so sure about titling it “Unlimited Psychic Squad” though.

#18

Like its parent series, it was probably a JP choice in titles.
They probably wanted to make sure people who liked the parent series might buy the spinoff if it was titled similarly.

#19

They can just switch them around and make it Marvel-y

Psychic Squad Unlimited…2099.

I had the same thought as celestial but when you put it that way, makes sense. It’s a recognizable title. Might be worth a look.
