No musical director? What happened to musical directors these days?
I see it will be just like Love Live where all these people were casted with no intention on them doing any singing? The constant rapid-fire switch from English to Japanese and back again.
Then why can’t they even dub the interim singing for Bang Dream?
They’d still have to license and pay extra for the music rights to do so, Funimation can do it because they are backed by Sony. Sentai doesn’t have that kind of backing. (They were able to do it for AKB0048, because they weren’t allowed to dub any of the performances. It’s usually stated in the licensing contracts what they can and can not do)
First of all, Aniplex USA is also backed by Sony too, so why can’t they dub singing?
Second, Sentai Filmworks was able to dub some minor singing for AKB0048. Why can’t they even dub minor singing for Bang Dream, even if it is acapela or kariokee and not some major performance?
Finally in Autonomous noise, why didn’t they even dub Twinkle Twinkle Little Star?
So all singing has to be in Japanese?
Yes but both Aniplex and Funimation are backed by 2 different divisions of Sony. Aniplex is a part of Sony Music, and Funimation is part of Sony Television. Aniplex won’t dub the singing because their parent tells them not too, Sony music is big in Japan and would rather go with the Japanese performers for the singing because It’s in the best interest for Sony Music and the performers they represent to do so. Sony Television is based in the US and wants to support Funimation’s US Market so when they can, they will negotiate the extra rights needed to dub the music when they are able to do so. They can’t get everything so you’ll see them not dub stuff like Love Live Sunshine (due to Aqours international popularity) yet they’ll song dub shows like Show By Rock because Sanrio allows them to.
So all the Bang Dream bands are popular internationally?
I still don’t understand why in Autonomous Noise, they didn’t even dub Twinkle Twinkle Little Star?
I can tell for the most part that this is why we shouldn’t dub Music anime, because it will not be fully dubbed. Anime voice actors in the USA don’t sing, they use the recordings of the Japanese voice actors. Why did they even bother dubbing this anime for?
I don’t know about the bands international popularity, I was just stating the reason Why Aqours wasn’t dubbed.
This is the last time this will be answered. It is dependent on the licensing contract(s) between the two parties as to whether they can dub Performances and / or interim songs in an Anime This answer is not going to change no matter how many times you ask this question.
I guess musical directors need not apply then.
If their not gonna dub the songs then why do they dub the show at all?
