I don’t know why Sentai Filmworks is bothering to dub Bang Dream season 2? The first season wasn’t dubbed, plus Sentai Filmworks doesn’t dub any singing unlike Funimation (and it seems they are unwilling to hire a musical director in my opinion.). Why do this? I wish Sentai Filmworks would make an effort to at least dub in universe insert songs since they can more easily get permission to do so.
BanG Dream S2 is basically a " We should have done it this way from the get go" Season, so it makes sense to dub S2 (and 3 Eventually) They can always go back and do S1 at some point if they feel they need to. As for the songs The “Same answer we’ve given you before” still applies (Licensing restrictions, Globalization etc.)
I can understand about certain music anime. but in the Kampher dub, they didn’t even dub the kariokee singing, which Funimation might have done if it dubbed it. In Autonomous Noise, Sentai Filmworks didn’t even dub Twinkle Twinkle Little Star, so I think it was on Sentai Filmworks end. I just feel like minor singing, Sentai Filmworks is not even willing to dub for some reason, where Funimation would.
I dont know why this show is in my recommended.
A girl band show
I agree with @spaceshotx7 thou. If the show has singing then if they speak English then they should sing English two.
I don’t want to here Japanese singing when I’m watching English.
They did dub the interim singing on AKB0048. As we’ve explained before, it’s either too expensive to license the song for english (which is a whole other separate license), the licensor imposes restrictions on the license, or the band is too popular globally that they feel it could hurt their profits if they allowed them to dub it.
I know the latter two was for Love Live in most cases. I know some singing was dubbed for AKB0048 (mostly in the first season). Could it be that Sentai Filmworks doesn’t have as much money to spend as Funimation on licensing and dubbing interim singing?
I am totally with you. I don’t see why the singing has to be in Japanese in an English dub?
