I have come to the realization that there might be a slight chance someone may inadvertently try to claim a character that has been claimed by someone else in the alter ego of the character (whew!). Therefore, I have started another list which will allow you to check for ineligible characters.
BTW, hereâs my criteria for whether alter ego characters can be chosen in either state. If the characters can interact with each other (such as Dark and Krad in D.N. Angel), then they will be considered as separate characters even though they are basically two sides of the same personality. Characters like Rito and Riko Yuuigi, who can never interact with each other, will be considered one character regardless of the gender of the character chosen.
Now I donât know how many other characters this will impact-about the only other case I can think of is that of Hikari and Akari in This Ugly Yet Beautiful World. They were two parts of the same being that split apart upon landing and as such they existed together on Earth and interacted with each other.
I hope this makes sense.

I thought Naruko was a fan creation? Are fan creations OK? At least there is no character in the official anime or manga with that name.
Naruko is, to the best of my research, part of the Naruto manga/anime. It is not so much that Naruko is a separate character but that Naruto uses his own variation of a ninja technique that he calls âSexy no Jutsuâ. Wikipedia refers to this in this passage from http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Naruto_Uzumaki:
Since this appears to be an part of the character of Naruto intended by the creators and not a fan-made addition, I have accepted it as a legitimate choice.
Edit: While doing more research, I think I understand your question netter Shawn. The situation is the character (or alter ego) is an official creation by the manga/anime creators, but they did not name âherâ. Fans have come up with the name Naruko. Since Ultimate Mega Man X is claiming the character, not the name, it is legitimate.

The reason I brought it up is the first pic lists her as a Chunin which is not the rank Naruto has and a healing Ninja which Naruto is not. Also makes reference to being his sister and not just Naruto in the Sexy no Jutsu. Naruto has no official siblings. The whole thing just struck me as odd, so that is why I asked.
I understand, Shawn, and it did take some time and work researching the pick to realize it was OK. I think this is a rare or unique situation where a character (or, more correctly, an alter ego) was named not by the animeâs creator but by fans. I donât think-and sincerely hope-this question will not come up againâŚ
