This past weekend, while I didn’t see the film itself, I was surprised to see that Shazam had a public advance showing of Shazam.
Why open the film ~2 weeks early?
could be to steal some of the Marvel movie money, and to give people a chance to get hype without a lot of controversy to make the movie capable of standing on its own.
I think Dumbo should have had a screening this same week also, so it combats the Disney box office monopoly by forcing a Disney movie off some screens.
remember Pet Sematary is coming out the same week as Shazam! and Hellboy comes out the week after. so many things to be shuffle to get reviews for after the dead beginning of the year going into the Easter holiday.
All of this in a rush before Endgame releases.
