[size=20]Aniplex USA Confirms Release of Fate/Zero 2 BD Boxset[/size]
posted on 2012-05-26 17:30 EDT

The anime production company Aniplex of America confirmed at its panel at Fanime Con on Saturday that it will release the Fate/Zero 2 television anime series on Blu-ray Disc in North America. Similarly to the release of the first television anime series, the release will be an import of the Japanese Blu-ray Disc box set and will include a translation booklet. Aniplex will release the boxset on September 9. Pre-orders for the set will start on June 1.

Aniplex released the first boxset, which contained the first 13 episodes of the series, on March 7, the same day it was released in Japan. That set included English subtitles and an English translation booklet for the included Japanese production material booklet. The set also contained unaired footage from the series. Other extras contained in the set include the series’ first original soundtrack and a drama CD written by original novel author Gen Urobuchi.

Ep. 20

[details=spoiler]Man, I never thought Maiya would go out like that.
After all Kiritsugu has been through, it was so saddening to see him lose yet another person close to him.
Though it was a beautiful moment that they shared in her last minutes, and she died with a smile.[/details]

Episode 23 –

[details=spoiler]I am greatly saddened by the loss of Rider – a wonderful and noble character. And he also had a clever way to get Waver to live. I thought there for a moment that Archer was going to kill Waver after all, but I’m glad he didn’t.

I was also a little surprised that Berserker turned out to be Sir Lancelot of all people![/details]

[details=spoiler]Indeed!
I couldn’t help but shed tears for the loss of Rider.
Amazing character he was, and that little ploy of making Waver his retainer to save him from the ego driven, yet honerable Gilgamesh was brilliant![/details]

Episode 25 –

[details=spoiler]So, in ordering Saber to destroy the Grail, Kiritsugu destroys everything. Gilgamesh and Kirei survive and Gilgamesh says they have won and that Kirei has gotten his deepest wish, but how can that be? In any case, Kirei isn’t satisfied and must be quite insane at this point, although he is also undead. But I had to feel bad for Kiritsugu – his entire life was about destruction and now this. I’m glad he was able to save at least one person.

I was surprised to see that Aoi survived Kariya’s attack, but she will never be herself again. Saber gets tossed back to her own reality. Sadly, Kiritsugu loses his family, but gains a son. Rider seems to have had a very good influence on Waver, for he has become a much better person. Although this was an emotional episode, it ended on a positive note. All in all, very enjoyable series![/details]

The official website for the Fate/Zero television anime series began streaming an advance trailer for the second “Onegai! Einzbern Sōdanshitsu” (Please! Einzbern Consultation Room) bonus extra included with the second Blu-ray Disc Box for the series. Type-Moon’s own Kinoko Nasu wrote the extra.

Aniplex of America will release the Japanese box set in North America next Wednesday.

[size=20]Aniplex of America announces The Anime Series Fate/Zero will Premiere on Neon Alley this Spring[/size]

ADR Director: Tony Oliver

Kirei Kotomine: Crispin Freeman
Assassin: Patrick Seitz
Tokiomi Tohsaka: Marc Diraison

Kariya Matou : Liam O’Brien
Berserker: Kyle Hebert

I don’t even want to see how much the dub version would cost.

A dub could help me change my opinion of this series. At the very least, Crispin Freeman & Kari Wahlgren will make it more hilarious IMO than it has any right to be.

Sadly it seems that Tony Oliver transposed the roles for Seitz & Freeman faith as Seitz has the brooding, “serious and dramatic” badass voice that the prevailing opinion says Freeman has but his works have never backed up. He seems better used in roles where a certain level of cheesiness is required, like his character in DRRR (who never did sound as angry as the Japanese established that he should) or Alucard. This is important as Kotomine, and practically every male character besides Assassin, spends a lot of time in the series giving long-winded monologues.

However, I’m not getting a PS3 & “Neon Alley” to see it. That’d cost more than the eventual AoA bluray release, and since “Neon Alley” still doesn’t even have an on-demand feature (making it more backwards than TAN, which shouldn’t be possible) odds are I wouldn’t be able to see it even if I had those things.

Personally, I find it kind of annoying that Sentai could get most of the cast back (despite having their own stable of actors in Texas) but Aniplex and Viz couldn’t for Zero, at least not in the same roles (despite dubbing it in California.). Cast inconsistencies irritate me. I would like to see this dubbed, but I’m not paying for Neon Alley to do so.

Looks like AoA posted an English trailer as well.

The good news about an English dub, is that it might actually be given a proper release over here.

LOL @ the guys in the audience MST3K-ing the show.

Also at the camera apparently pointing away from the screen around 2:00 as the cameraman minorly spoils the show for someone (which he does again later). This has the quality of a pirated movie from yesteryear; it reminds me of the episode of The Boondocks where they record Soul Plane 2 in theaters.

I don’t know, I’m not “feeling” the dub voice of Irisveil, everyone’s favorite white haired non-loli homunculus. To me she doesn’t sound like the character should; for a rarity with modern J-dubs I think that the Japanese were closer to the mark. I wouldn’t be surprised if they cast without being truly aware of the character’s progression over the show. Rin also sounds like a fail.

Though I’m sure that this actress doing the Goldenboy-esque scene when racing the car with Saber riding shotgun will be hilarious.

From what I heard (though the audio quality was pretty bad) the dub sounds stilted and cheesy. The characters do not sound as though they’re talking to one another, it sounds as though they’re each reading a monologue to the audience as a massive exposition dump; the interaction isn’t natural. All of these characters speak to each other, ignoring the audience, but they all sound like actors in a play who are supposed to be speaking to the audience primarily. Funi & Sentai have actors from theaters in their dubs yet they sound natural. Why doesn’t this?

Facepalm.

Company previously released import BD boxsets for 25-episode series

North American anime licensor Aniplex of America announced at Anime Expo on Thursday that it will release a domestic version of the Fate/Zero television anime series on DVD and Blu-ray Disc that will include the show’s English dub.

Aniplex of America previously released Fate/Zero in North America in two Blu-ray Disc box sets that were imports of the Japanese release with English subtitles and a translation booklet. Fate/Zero is currently streaming on Neon Alley with an English dub, and the series streamed on Crunchyroll as it aired.

The anime adapts the prequel novel by Gen Urobuchi (Puella Magi Madoka Magica, Phantom - The Animation, Blassreiter) to Type-Moon’s Fate/stay night visual novel software. The story is set a decade before Fate/stay night and reveals the 4th Holy Grail War that sets the stage for the war in the software.

Director Ei Aoki (Hourou Musuko, Ga-Rei: Zero, Girls Bravo), the anime studio ufotable, and composer Yuki Kajiura (Madoka Magica, .hack, Kara no Kyoukai) were all involved in the anime, which originally aired in two different seasons in October to December 2011 and April to June 2012.

If only they’d given an ETA…

It’s up on the home page.

I can’t say that I’ve ever been to the “homepage” of fate zero. IMO those extra features are sorely lacking, and from what you’ve quoted it seems as though anyone who buys the DVD version gets even fewer features. I find that interesting since one of the omitted-for-the-dvd-version features is actually a DVD.

Why didn’t you post that date initially?
