Tomoka (Kana Hanazawa) narrates ad for second season of basketball anime premiering on July 7

Warner Brothers Japan began streaming the ad for the second television anime season of Sagu Aoyama’s Ro-Kyu-Bu! light novel series on Saturday. The ad originally aired on the Tokyo MX channel. In the video, Tomoka (voiced by Kana Hanazawa) expresses her excitement at being able to learn more from Subaru.

The cast from the previous season will be returning, with the additions of Misaki Kuno as Mimi Balgerry, Minami Tsuda as Tsubaki Takenaka, Risa Taneda as Masami Fujii, and Asami Seto as Kagetsu Hakamada.

The story centers around a high school freshman boy named Subaru Hasegawa (Yuuki Kaji) who joined the basketball team, but the team stopped playing due to the captain being suspected of being a lolicon. Subaru somehow ends up as a coach of an elementary school’s basketball team with five girls.

Ro-Kyu-Bu! SS will premiere on Japanese television on July 7. The CD single for “Get Goal” and the ending theme song “Rolling! Rolling!” will then follow on July 10. The limited first edition of the single will include a DVD with the “Get Goal” music video.

Not to be a buzzkill, but if you want this thread to be used (especially if Sentai really does decide it’s worth picking up considering what happened to the S1 home video license) you should probably format the first post into a proper thread post.

If not, I was going to make a proper thread on it at some point (I’ve been kinda busy lately) I just haven’t gotten around to it yet.

funny looks like a proper thread to me as there is no MLA guidelines required to make a post on these forums and ANY user can make a thread if they so choose until such time as administration views that thread as a violation of the forum rules or policies.

i see a topic, i see information.

i guess new threads on TAN require CoffeeGod’s approval to make them? would someone please make the forum function in that manner if that is the rule so that he can approve evry thread made so he doesn’t have to post his disapproval in every thread that is created from now on?

i will be happy to place this suggestion in the sugegst box if need be.

What The Coffee God is getting at, is that this type of thread usually contains more than just a TV ad. All he’s asking Ranger to do is edit the original post to contain more information.

So, you know… stuff like genre, and plot summary (which are usually just taken from Anime News Network), links to sites like ANN, and the official site and if it’s being simulcast anywhere, a link to wherever that may be (Crunchyroll, TAN…).

I agree, first posts of any anime should contain info for that anime.

For anyone looking at it for the first time they should be able to see what the anime is about and glean that info from the first post.

As far as I know, every anime thread has this info in the first post, and if they don’t, they should.

Happy now?

Extremely. Thank you so much!

Ep. 1

[details=spoiler]Short and sweet version. Tomoka’s dad thinks she’s spending too much time with basketball and wants her to do other things. The girls all go to a festival but Tomo can’t go. Kaori (Tomoka’s mom) calls up Subaru to take Tomo to the festival because she has to go out and doesn’t want Tomoka to be alone at the house.

Tomoka’s dad comes to the festival and realizes , with Subaru and the girls’ help, that Tomoka has good friends and won’t be hurt like she was before when she was just concentrating on winning.

-Subplot note: Someone took a picture of Subaru helping Saki at the pop gun booth.

End of the episode saw a girl challenge Tomoka to a game of basketball.[/details]

Ep. 2

[details=spoiler]Find out the person who took the picture of Subaru and Saki works at a rival Restaurant and is a 5th grader named Masami.

Foreign girl (Mimi) challenges Tomoka to a game of basketball and you finally meet Subaru’s dad, who’s back from Hawaii and brought Mimi with him so she can attend school in Japan. She is also a 5th grader (see a pattern?)

Maho runs into TsubaHi , Natsui’s (The Captain of the boy’s basketball team that the girls’ beat in Series 1 for Gym rights) twin Sisters, Tubaki and Hiragi (Since they are so close and seem to share thoughts, they get the TsubaHi moniker as they act like one person sometimes) and they are 5th graders.

Hina and Kagetsu are still talking about basketball and kagetsu helps Hina with her training.

Things happen and of course the 5th graders form a basketball team to take down their rivals, the 6th graders. Subaru’s dad agrees to coach them for the game against the 6th graders as the episode ends. [/details]

Ep 3-10

spoiler

Basically main plot revolves around the 6th graders (Tomoko, Airi, Maho, Hina and Saki) becoming a unified team with the 5th graders (Mimi, Kagetsu, Tsubaki, Hiragi and Masami). This allows them to become a team of 10 players so they can play Official league matches. Which happens during the course of the episodes, which leads to a showdown with the team that beat the 6th graders in season 1.

Ep. 11

[details=spoiler]6th graders play 1st quarter 5th graders play 2nd quarter score is tight.

During the 3rd quarter, Maho gets hurt, so the team has to play with the 5th graders subbing in and out.

4th quarter Kenshin is down but due to great play from the entire team, Tomoko has the ball with 10 seconds left. She passes the ball to Hina who passes it to Airi who passes to Masami, you think Masami is going to shoot, but she trick passes to Saki… who remembers what happened last time and…

SAKI SHOOTS! SHE SCORES! Sends the game into overtime rectifying her failure at the end of season 1. Next episode is the Overtime period. [/details]

Ep.12

spoiler

Overtime starts and Maho is feeling better so the 6th graders play the overtime period. Score is tight and Maho gets fouled. She only hits 1 of the 2 free throws. Score is 47-48 Kenshin makes the basket and the other team follows suit, during the next possession Airi tries to make a shot and it gets blocked and both teams scramble for the lose ball.

Maho comes up with the ball and as the ball is passed arounmd Tomoka gets it and prepares to make the final shot as time is running out, but the Ace of the other Team (The ponytail girl) causes Tomoka to pause for a sec before she shoots, the ball flies through the air and goes into the basket…

but it doesn’t count because time ran out just a fraction of a second before Tomoka shot it. (They don’t show the clock counting down) We get a good game from both teams and everyone on both sides become friends because of the fun they all had. (It’s still a bunch of BS but I get the point of the whole thing about sportsmanship and having fun with your friends and it’s not all about winning. They was robbed lol)

Anyway Aoi takes the 5th graders home where they vow to become as good if not better than the 6th graders…

Subaru apologizes to the girls that since this was their last game and he wanted to give them a victory. Of course they forgive him and they tell him that they only want him to be their coach, lot’s of hugging and crying follow. They say they are going to stick with Basketball etc.
Tomoka and Subaru take a walk and look at the stars and talk about things.

Cut to school the next day where Aoi Airii’s bro and Subaru are all on the roof when their friend comes in and states the boys basketball team has been reinstated, and you see the now 7th graders going to their introduction assembly at their new school.

Move to Maho’s family’s pool at the mansion where the now 7th and 6th graders+ Subaru, Airi’s Bro and Aoi have gathered for swimming and what not, when Subaru asks Tomoka what motivated her to start playing basketball as the credits roll, and the group calls out to them before she can answer and they walk over.

Cut to an around 7 or 8 year old Tomoka at the park getting mad at her Mom for not playing with her. While she’s sitting on the swing set, an older boy comes up and sees the basketball hoop is free. He shoots a jumper and Tomoka asks him what he’s doing, and he says he’s playing basketball. Yep, you all guessed it, the boy is Subaru, and it shows Tomoka taking her first jump shot with her ball at the end.
