Episode 11 –
Spoiler
So, it seems that Yuki gets some of her memories back just as the zombies invade the school and break through the barricades. She even manages to save Miki from them. Kurumi isn’t doing well at all and only Yuri is with her. Yuri looks as if she’s about to have some kind of breakdown. A bolt of lightning takes out the electricity and the school is enveloped in darkness.
Miki is still determined to get back to the basement and retrieve the medicine that might help Kurumi – and perhaps Taromaru as well. After an encounter with a zombie, Miki gains a new respect for Kurumi and her skill with the shovel. Miki may never be able to handle them as well as Kurumi does. Yuri considers her promise to Kurumi, but may not be able to kill her. She seems to be freaking out a bit too.
On the roof, the damaged generator explodes and the zombies carry the fire to the garden, burning it all down. The girls just lost their fresh food source and may lose the school as well. Cornered by zombies, Miki sacrifices her CD player, the only thing she has left of her friend. Yuri also remembers a conversation she had with Kurumi about the zombies being aware. It was bothering Kurumi to think they might be and reminds Yuri of her promise. Yuri now unwraps the knife and holds it over Kurumi. As determined as she is, I don’t think she can do it.
Miki has made it to the basement and follows a trail of blood to a flooded part of the basement. Shovel at the ready, she begins to wade through the water, only to come face to face with Megu-nee. Going back to the other room and with a partial metal gate between them, Miki introduces herself to Megu-nee and tells her about the other club members and how well they’re all doing. But when Megu-nee grabs her ankle, Miki puts her to rest. And it seems that Yuki felt that moment as well.
An alarm goes off and an automated warning is given as the basement switches to emergency power. All that noise is going to attract some unwanted visitors, I’m sure. And it does! Miki enters a room and doesn’t even know where to begin to look. However, she is drawn to a case with handprints. Megu-nee’s? Most likely. She opens the case and it is full of medical supplies, as well as the medicine for Kurumi. But the medicine is marked as “experimental”, so will it even work on Kurumi? I hope so!
Yuki has another memory flash and Miki has a wall of zombies coming at her in the basement. Trying a nearby door releases what looks to be Taromaru. As he runs off, Miki ducks inside and wonders about her next step. The room is very similar to the one she lived in at the mall and she wonders if she will end up dying here all alone. Yuri breaks down and cannot kill Kurumi. The zombies have broken into Miki’s hiding place and Yuki speaks with Megu-nee again. Yuki wants to go to her, but Megu-nee tells her to go to the broadcasting room. There, she can save Miki and everyone else too.
Yuki picks up a bat and leaves the club room. Megu-nee guides her and as Yuki stops for a rest, she gains another memory and cries. Megu-nee urges her to keep going and once outside “that” door, Yuki remembers Megu-nee’s death. As they talk on either side of the door, Yuki admits she’s been letting everyone else handle the “scary” things, but she can’t do that anymore. Megu-nee asks Yuki to remember her promise. They talk a little more and Megu-nee leaves. Yuki opens the door to try to follow her, but it’s just an empty corridor. Standing on the bloodstain that marked Megu-nee’s death, Yuki cries, finally able to accept her teacher’s death and mourn for her. The saddest part, was when she raised her head and said, “Bye-bye, Megu-nee” with the image of the cross on the roof and Megu-nee’s bloodstained ribbon blowing in the rain. Somehow, it gets untied by the wind and flies off. Yeah, I lost it too at that point. Well, I guess I needed a good cry anyway. I can only wonder what the next and final episode will bring.
