After all, any problem that occurs in a movie has to resolve itself in just a few hours, whereas things that happen in the real world have ramifications that last forever. As the relationships between Kouichi, Mao, Kazuki and the rest continue to evolve and unravel, however, it soon becomes obvious that the movies and real romance have at least one thing in common: not every ending is going to be a happy one. SYNOPSIS: As if the Demon Bat’s training couldn’t get any more bizarre, Hiruma drags the entire team to Houston, Texas for a bootcamp from Hell. But that’s the least of the team’s problems, as things go unpredictably (or actually, at this point, rather predictably) awry. Not only does Cerberus get “borrowed” by a little girl, but the team must face a grueling death-march, the NASA Aliens are back with a sly and cunning plan to outmaneuver the Demon Bats, and somewhere in the middle is an epic battle over a thousand dollars and a whole lot of barbeque. And then everyone realizes that Las Vegas is “reasonably close” to Houston and the trouble really begins! American style football takes Japan by storm and Japan returns the favor by sending the Demon Bats back to the ranch in EYESHIELD 21 - COLLECTION 3!

Title: GINTAMA COLLECTION 3

Format: DVD
Language: Japanese with English Subtitles
SRP: $49.98

SYNOPSIS: Space cockroaches? Shepherding senile fireworks masters? Building snowmen? In a world where aliens run feudal Japan, no job is too strange or bizarre for Gintoki’s Odd Jobs agency. Which is a good thing, because things only get stranger and more bizarre as their reputation grows. But when they’re called in to assist a certain “reindeer-owning” individual with improving his image and the whole situation devolves into a “very special holiday episode” the level of weirdness may set a new record. Of course, if action and drama are more your thing, let’s not forget that oh-so inconvenient case of accidental amnesia, dodging crazed sword collectors, the frantic battle to get a hold of the last copy of a rather popular manga and the unexpected rescue of a… whoops, getting a bit too close to spoilers there! Suffice it to say that if you’re looking for the perfect hybrid of wild adventure and plain old wacky fun, Japan’s number one animated comedy delivers again in the third breathtaking collection of GINTAMA!

So for those who were worried about more Gintama and Eyeshield, it looks like those worries were misplaced (at least for now.) It does seem they were just trying to get their bigger dubbed releases out for the holidays.

Nyon-Kai sounds cute, so I will have to check that one out. I’ve always been a sucker for a harem comedy.

I’m actually a bit surprised this press release didn’t come out Monday. David Williams actually announced most of this at Anime Weekend Atlanta on Saturday.

Also on subbed DVD in December: 2nd KimiKiss set, 3rd Eyeshield 21 set, 3rd Gintama set

The North American anime distributor Section23 Films has announced that it will release the Nyan Koi! television anime series in a complete, English-subtitled DVD collection on December 14. Sentai Filmworks licensed this anime adaptation of Sato Fujiwara’s comedy manga.

In the story, Junpei Kōsaka is a second-year high school student who despises cats and has an allergy to them. It just so happens that his high school crush is Kaede Mizuno, a girl who adores cats. One day, while walking home from school, Junpei kicks an empty can and unfortunately beans the local neko-jizō-sama (guardian deity of cats) statue. He finds that he can now understand what cats are saying, including his family’s own ill-tempered cat, Nyamsas. However, if he does not grant 100 wishes from cats, he will turn into a cat himself.

The manga has been running in the web comic magazine Flex Comix Blood since August 10, 2007, and SoftBank Creative published the fifth compiled book volume in Japan in March. DC Comics’ CMX Manga imprint announced its North American license of the manga last year, before DC shuttered the imprint this past July.

Section23 Films will also release the second subtitled DVD collection for Kimikiss pure rouge on December 7, the third subtitled DVD collection for Eyeshield 21 on December 21, and the third subtitled DVD collection for Gintama on December 28.

More Gintama and Eyeshield is always welcome. As for the new license… Does nothing for me personally, but good for those who liked it or are interested in it.

Here’s hoping for some more surprise and niche licenses from Sentai for next year!

Totally buying more Gintama.

I’m quite happy about all of these. Still not sure I’ll be getting KimiKiss though. Been waiting for Nyan Koi! announcement from someone for a while glad it’s Sentai. I know Dragoon and me were talking about it when it was released in Japan last year and the ANN staff were doing the new Anime season review thing.
