SYNOPSIS: As the Empire of the Sun crumbles upon itself and a rain of firebombs falls upon Japan, the final death march of a nation is echoed in millions of smaller tragedies. This is the story of Seita and his younger sister Setsuko, two children born at the wrong time, in the wrong place, and now cast adrift in a world that lacks not the care to shelter them, but simply the resources. Forced to fend for themselves in the aftermath of fires that swept entire cities from the face of the earth, their doomed struggle is both a tribute to the human spirit and the stuff of nightmares. Beautiful, yet at times brutal and horrifying. Based on the retellings of survivor Nosaka Akiyuki and directed by Iaso Takahata (co-founder, with Hayao Miyazaki, of Japan’s legendary Studio Ghibli,) GRAVE OF THE FIREFLIES has been universally hailed as an artistic and emotional tour de force.

I’m rather curious if this part is a mistake.

From what I remember, there was two versions of it, but the time differential between the two was only about 10min or so.

If that run time is correct, that’s over twice as long as the first release, which seems rather improbable.
Unless they’re adding the second movie to it as well, which seems even more improbable to me.

Runtime is both versions together. It has both cuts. 65 for directors cut and 60 for Theatrical cut.

Well good to see they are releasing the extended cut of Mardock Scramble. I will definitely be picking up the bluray. Ef and Merry are definites as well. Overall, a very strong release line up.

Ahh, gotcha!
It didn’t even occure to me that they’d include both versions, though that does make sense some what.

For me:

Definite
(not sure exactly when, since March is during the PMMM release schedule)

Dream Eater Merry (undecided whether it’ll be the DVD or BD)

Maybe
(possible double dip)

Mardock Scramble (also undecided whether it’ll be the DVD or BD)

Unknown
(want to watch ef-memo first before deciding)

ef ~ A Tale of Melodies

I know they said they can’t, but I’d really like to see Sentai start doing Blu-ray/DVD combo packs. At least on Movies and OVA’s like Mardock Scramble. Like having a DVD copy of stuff so I can watch in more parts of the house. Right now my Blu-ray watching is limited to one room.

I don’t mind combopacks as long as they use Bluray cases. I despise the ones in DVD cases. They remind me of the ultrabudget combo packs Lion’s Gate and others have put out. :stuck_out_tongue: Fortunately, every TV in my house has a PS3 attached so no worries for me.

I sadly will not be buying Grave of the Fireflies for a third time. but everyone who doesn’t have it should buy it
