Elfen Lied on bluray makes me very happy. The inclusion of the OVA makes it even better.

Nyan Koi, Patlabor, and AKB0048 BD for me. Maybe I get the Blu-ray of Elfen Lied somewhere down the road.

I’m happy about the ‘Elfin Lied’ complete collection, but I have a few questions.

  1. Is the OVA dubbed? I don’t care if it isn’t, I’m just happy it’s finally getting released here, but I’m still curious.

  2. Is there any hope for a complete ‘Kino’s Journey’ collection? That has two movies that were never brought over here.

Nyan Koi! for me.

I’m kinda sad that Phi-Brain S2 Clt02 isn’t on the Sept. solicitations (especially since David mentioned it would be at ACen).

So only AKB0048 BD from this.
I guess I’ll be waiting to put my order in until the Oct. solicitations are out it seems.
Hopefully Phi-Brain will pop up then.

I just found out the OVA will be dubbed.

  3. According to WTK of the Fandom Post forums it will be dubbed.

  4. As far as Kino’s Journey goes, that is a wait and see.

  5. Awesome to hear!

  6. I’m a huge Kino fan so for me it’s a ‘wait and hope’, but thanks for letting me know!

Definitely AKB0048

Nyan Koi was cute but not sure about adding it.

and with the discounted price, is Elfin Lied worth it?

  • the one I really want from Sentai comes out next month…*

Follow up

*Ended up ordering AKB0048 and the Elfin Lied BD’s

Holy bleep! Golgo Complete? I didn’t expect that. I was thinking next they were gonna do Season 1 CC then season 2 CC. That’s on the list and also AKB0048 Season 1.

The proposed bluray cover art is pretty awesome too: :cheer:

Source: RightStuf!
Warning: nudity

That will get peoples attention.

What gets my attention is the “ADV Films” logo in the lower right on that image. I realize that it says “not final” but still…

I miss the era where, despite characters having moeblob heads/faces, they could actually have more defined bodies that aren’t the K-On esque amorphous blobs. I miss the pre-moeblob days when “people looked like people”.

On that cover art, the head behind the right shoulder of everyone’s favorite invisible-arm-armed (lol) killer looks like that of the Haruhi-knockoff character from Angel Beats. Hair color is the only way to even start to tell the moeblob heads apart…

Maybe I’ll buy this from the Sentai booth. Last year I bought their DVD release. Still haven’t seen the dub of this, only the sub. Maybe I was subconsciously waiting for the BD?

Elfen Lied is still licensed by ADV, so their logo should be staying on the final release. I actually like that, as a couple days before the announcement, I was thinking it was a but sad that I would never have any ADV blurays in my collection.

Sounds like Funimation was wrong: Voltron didn’t disassemble lol.

I “exhumed” my copy of the DVD and, sure enough, the ADV logo is there. It looks so…nostalgic.

This new cover art is vastly superior IMO to that of the DVD. It has more than one character on the cover, focuses on that character, has less “wasted space”, darker BG and it doesn’t focus on everyone’s 2nd or 3rd favorite Diclonius looking like she’s escaped from a sarcophagus and needs Brandon Fraser to save the day lol.

More seriously, Lucy wasn’t really about the whole A.B.A. (guilty gear) look in the series and I like that the new art reflects that.

Say, I though that the whole “gimmick” with this AKB0048 show was that it included that band’s members as its primary voice actresses. How will the dub address that?

So Golgo 13 Blu-ray has shipped to many and the thoughts on the video are about what I expected. Even though it was made in 2008 the show was done in SD not HD as it showed on DVD it really shows on Blu-ray. So if you get it don’t expect great video.

At least the content is good. After Funimation’s debacle with Black Lagoon I wasn’t expecting any real upgrade in the video (I remember back when Funi didn’t print white lies about video quality on their packaging lol). Would I be correct in assuming that Sentai did not fix the errors in the dub for the 2nd half of the series?

It’s mind boggling that in 2008 Japan was still making <1080 content, though I’m still in disbelief that they’re making non-Full HD content still today. Technology has passed Japan by; the Japan of the 1980s needs to time travel to the present and get the modern Japanese to work to regain Japan’s tech reputation (and would someone PLEASE introduce the Japanese to modern smartphones). :stuck_out_tongue:

I own the DVD boxset of elfin lied. would love to have the OVA as well.
