And while you’re at it…
Daisuki will also be streaming Buddy Complex, Nisekoi & World Conquest

All right, adding.
Sentai Filmworks
Cricket Chirps
That’s it? No more licensing announcements for this season? Granted there are 5 total with the continuations, but color me disappointed…

Funimation has picked up more shows than Sentai Filmworks-at the early stages of the season, no less-have we entered into the Twilight Zone?
Or is Sentai just holding its cards until some later date?

Like every season, they announce them when they get around to it.
The 2 TBS series are pretty much a guarantee.
It’d be nice to know what I should at least attempt to stream. I’m not much of a simulcast streamer as there are so many shows out there that I only like because of the Sentai dub (ie:the plot/characters/writing is not enough on its own to make the show good IMO) but since Sentai tells us often that if want a dubbed physical release then we have to stream, I at least like to try to make the effort to stream Sentai’s shows.
It probably wouldn’t hurt for me to poke around Crunchy and check out shows that haven’t yet been licensed but I don’t have much motivation to do so TBH: w/o a Sentai announcement to spur me on, I’d usually rather just whittle down my massive bluray backlog instead.
If anything, they’ll probably wait till the last week of Jan/first week of Feb. to announce anymore licenses they got. This way they give CR their first month of exclusivity. I seem to remember that’s how they did it for some shows last 2 seasons.
Maybe I will poke around Crunchy, that way I can know what I want Sentai to license and experience the “ups and downs” of license announcements instead of being all “meh” about them as I usually am.
…though that’s hard to do when I go to the “Winter 2014” page on Crunchy and the only new show whose promo pic & blurb scream “watch me!” is the one that looks like a Last Exile knockoff.
With their obvious unspoken relationship, I can guarantee all their licenses are on CR currently.
Which means they have less incentive to announce them early like FUNi, who simulcasts their own titles.
Back when TAN was handling their simulcasts, they use to announce them a day or two in advance.
After CR started handling their simulcasts, as seasons have progressed, they have been announcing them closer to their TAN delaycasts.

Well that’s both intriguing and dismaying. The hunt for a show that I like subbed amidst these titles (Crunchy’s list of shows for this season, 40-counting continuing shows-seems low to me…is it?) is on.

Beyond what’s already been announced, here’s my guess list so you won’t have to dig too much.
TBS (Absolute)
● Sakura Trick
● Chunibyo 2
Media Factory (Established Pattern)
● Magical Warfare
● Nobunaga the Fool
After last season, the Showgate pattern is broken with 2 unlicensed and 1 licensed by NISA, and even more broken this season, with NO-RIN being licensed by FUNi with a CR stream, however here’s the other 3 for this season.
Showgate (Established Pattern, But Broken)
● Soni-Ani: SUPER SONICO
● Wizard Barristers
● Recently, My Sister is Unusual
Anything beyond those 7 is much less assured and uneven guess work.
Media Factory (Established Pattern)
● Magical Warfare
● Nobunaga the Fool
Magical Warfare is also the third TBS show this quarter, so this one seems a likely pick up (Since we know Funimation isn’t going to pull a Haganai, Haganai Next end around)
Nobunaga the Fool is animated by Satelight, so this one is a possibility as well, but you have to know your historical figures for this one.

Since I’ll bet the licensing for Sonico would be handled by Nitroplus, this won’t be a Sentai title.
Recently, my Sister is Unusual won’t be touched by Sentai after seeing the 1st 2 episodes (They are a little bit extreme Yuri where the ghost basically molests the sister and when it gets serious it cuts away to a description Bishojo game style)
So Wizard Barristers is probably the only show this quarter from Showgate that Sentai might be interested in. (Still disappointed about Arpeggio of Blue Steel not getting licensed)

Magical Warfare isn’t considered a TBS title, since they don’t hold the international license for it (much like Haganai isn’t a TBS title) Media Factory does.
Nobunaga the Fool is also a Media Factory title in which they hold the international license, so any licensing that happens would be with Media Factory.
Considering Sentai has licensed every Media Factory title on CR since they started using CR for simulcasting, it’s a good bet on both.

Again, this is a mistake.
International licensing for Sonico isn’t handled by Nitroplus, it’s handled by Showgate, this is why the publisher on CR is Showgate.
Recently, my Sister is Unusual - regardless of how it plays out, because it’s a Showgate title, you still have to keep it in consideration until all is said and done.
Of all the Showgate titles, Wizard Barristers probably has the highest probability of getting licensed by Sentai this season, just because of the type of anime it is.
plus, don’t forget bout “package deals”.
Sentai just announced via Facebook that some licensing announcements are coming this week. Stay Tuned…
Hopefully there’ll be some stuff from last season and beyond mixed in with any from this new season as well.
added Magical Warfare to Sentai Filmworks (Woot!)
added Soni-Ani Super Sonico the Animation to Sentai Filmworks.
I’m not sure what to make of this show. It features more voluptuous 'blobs than most but it doesn’t seem to be a fanservicey show, nor does it seem to be a “serious” show.
In an age where so many shows are thinly-veiled ads for the light novels/manga on which they were based, is a show that is completely open about its product-pushing motives the honest one? Sentai has licensed this decade’s Freedom lol.

Our week of announcements continues today with an exciting new license acquisition primed and ready to go out this afternoon. Here’s a hint to keep you guessing:
