Although I watched a ton of anime, the first one to make me obsessed was FMA/FMA:B (I know, shocker, right?)
And, apparently, it’s stood the test of time, because I’m still watching it over and over again. I’m continually seeing new things I didn’t notice before and I agree with Rose Bridges in the article that the political parts mirror things happening in the world.
While Sailor Moon was really the introductory anime that guided me into the world of anime through word of mouth from a friend and was completely impressed, the anime that really changed my world completely to even purchasing anime had to be Neon Genesis Evangelion. I couldn’t be more prouder to own this masterpiece and I do enjoy giant robots.
Mine was Star Blazers / Space Battleship Yamato, was the first series I really got into, that and Battle of the Planets / Gatchaman.

Per the licensing post: Remember that most companies have a budget, so as long as the licensing costs keep escalating like they are, be prepared for the number of titles a company can license to go way down.
Really don’t expect Sentai to license more than five titles per season this year.
