And as for David Mantranga’s (hope I spelled it write) character, I laughed my butt off realizing that’s the voice of Tomoya Okazaki. I almost forgot, Did he happen to also be the voice of Orphen?
I’m watching the bluray collection right now and I have to say it looks spectacular. This is probably the best looking anime bluray I have, and one the best looking of my entire collection regardless of genre. It’s just beautiful.
I’m also really loving the dub. It was really expertly cast and the performances are flawless. The script is also pretty good. The only flaw appears to be the occasional lip flaps being off, but not distractingly so. This is one of the best dubs I’ve heard in a long time.
The OVA may have required separate negotiations and could be subject to different licensing terms that the series. It’s possible that Sentai or Anime Network may not have download to own rights for it. They are separate from streaming rights.
You know considering everyone’s love of this show, you all never discussed the end, which I just got to.

That was so sad. I really liked Hinata and Otanahi’s relationship in this show, I felt outside of Kanade it was the best thing the show had so I had to go through two very hard endings, not that Yuripi’s wasn’t sad, just I never really cared all that much for her. The revelation that Kanade was the person who took Otonashi’s heart just blew me away though, I did not see that coming at all. The ending with him asking her to stay and her not being able to was extremly sad too, I mean very sad, as in heartbreaking. Then the ending played and everyone disappearing, :(. The very end took away from it a small bit no offense, I like happy endings but Otonashi doesn’t have a heart, he shouldn’t be alive, and if it is reincarnation he is way too young.
The OVA was fun and all, especially what it said instead of to be continued, but I was very disappointed Sentai couldn’t get Another Epilogue, I found that online about 10 minutes ago and while confusing, it was awesome.
I really regret letting this show pass me by when it first came out, it quickly grew on me(like first line) and I was with it till the very end.
I missed this great story at first too, but bought the DVD’s a few weeks ago.
Don’t have any problems with the series ending or OVA’s.

If reincarnation is real then I believe the Science Fiction author H. Beam Piper had it right as to how it works. He believed it depended on the attitude and will of the soul being reincarnated. Otonashi & Kanade wanted each other.
For those with the Blu-Ray collection, anyone have problems getting the trailers on the second disk to play? The copy my brother got for Christmas only shows a black screen for a few seconds before going back to the menu. The disk shows no signs of damage.
They all played perfectly for me as well. My player is the PS3. It’s possible you got a defective set, but I’d say it’s slightly more likely that the encoding on the disc just doesn’t play well with your player. I occasionally have issues with some discs, including DVDs. I have one double feature that automatically plays in Spanish for the first film, but the second film won’t even play. I’ve never had problems with my DVD player and the disc though.
Sometimes a firmware update will fix problems like this.
Its been less then two months since we updated the firmware but will see if they have a new version up. Its the first time I have seen it refuse to play something. The player is a Samsung BD-C6500 model.
