The staff of the upcoming live-action film adaptation of Yusei Matsui’s Assassination Classroom manga announced the main cast for the film on Wednesday. The staff have also opened an official website and Twitter account for the film.

Hey! Say! JUMP band member Ryōsuke Yamada (Kindaichi Case Files’ Kindaichi) will star in the film as Nagisa Shiota (pictured second from left in top row). Yamada notes that he is a fan of the original work and he is undergoing action training for the role.

The rest of the main cast is as follows:

The staff also revealed that Kuro-sensei will be rendered in CG in the film. The voice actor for the character has not yet been announced.

Eiichirō Hasumi (Umizaru films, Wild 7) is directing the film, and Tatsuya Kanazawa (Saru Lock The Movie, Lucky Seven) is writing the script. Filming will begin on site at an abandoned elementary school on the in the suburbs in Japan’s Kanto district on August 31, and will wrap up in mid-October. The film is set to open in March 2015.

Viz Media will publish the first volume of the manga in North America in December. The company describes the story:

A humorous and action-packed story about a class of misfits who are trying to kill their new teacher – an alien octopus with bizarre powers and super strength! The teacher has just destroyed the moon and is threatening to destroy the earth – unless his students can destroy him first. What makes things more complicated is that he’s the best teacher they’ve ever had!

Matsui launched Assassination Classroom in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump magazine in 2012, and Shueisha published the 10th volume in July. The series ranked number seven in Japan’s top-selling manga for 2013, and currently has more than 10 million copies in print. The series already inspired an event anime last year, and is also inspiring a television anime series that will premiere in January.

The shooting for the upcoming live-action film adaptation of Yusei Matsui’s Ansatsu Kyoushitsu/Assassination Classroom manga has begun on August 31 for a two-month schedule. The film’s official Twitter account has been posting the photos from the set, including Kunugigaoka Academy’s uniforms, though we can’t see the cast as the characters yet. The alien teacher Korosensei is created with CGI, so he will be added in the post-production process.

The live-action film Ansatsu Kyoushitsu/Assassination Classroom hits Japanese theaters in March 2015.

As reported, the official Twitter account for the upcoming live-action film adaptation of Yusei Matsui’s Ansatsu Kyoushitsu/Assassination Classroom manga, has been posting the photos from the set. The latest one posted today on September 8 introduces 16-year-old actress Maika Yamamoto as Kaede Kayano with her message for the first time. Thankfully, the color of her hair is not light green as it is in the manga (it would be ridiculous in a live-action film). How do you like her? The official Twitter for the film will keep posting the photos of the students in class 3-E.

Former Kara Member Makes Film Debut in Assassination Classroom

Jigoku Sensei Nube actress plays foreign language teacher Irina Jelavic

Former Kara idol Kang Jiyoung (Urakara, Koisuru Maison ~Rainbow Rose~) will play the professional assassin and foreign language teacher Irina Jelavic in the upcoming live-action film adaptation of Yusei Matsui’s Assassination Classroom manga. The role will mark the first time Jiyong is acting in a film.

Jiyong retired from Kara in April then went to England to study English and acting. She then signed with the Sweet Power agency in August and is resuming her activities in Japan. She is currently co-starring as the yōkai Yukime in the live-action television series adaptation of Takeshi Okano and Sho Makura’s Jigoku Sensei Nube manga.

The film will open in Japan on March 21, 2015.

1st look at CG rendering of alien teacher from next March’s film

A handout for the live-action film of Yusei Matsui’s Assassination Classroom manga offers the first look at its Koro-sensei portrayal on Friday. The handout offers a close-up shot of the alien teacher beaming from the entrance of Classroom 3-E, and gives the best look yet at the live-action version’s CG rendering of his body and facial expression.

The handout’s caption reads, “Now, everyone, it’s time for assassination.” Theaters throughout Japan will begin distributing the handout on November 1. The film itself will open on March 21, 2015.

New group performs debut single for March 21 film

The official website for the live-action film of Yusei Matsui 's Assassination Classroom manga announced last month that the group Sensa-tions is performing the theme song “Koro-sensa-tions” to the film. The song will include vocals from the voice actor of Koro-sensei (as yet unannounced).

Matsui drew a special illustration for the group, which appeared in this year’s 14th issue of Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump magazine. It also unveils the performing names of the group’s members: Shinobi, Barrett, Commander, Falcon Jr., Scope, Rabbit Fire, Doctor, Geek, and Sonic Hunter.

J. Storm is releasing “Koro-sensa-tions” as the debut single of Sensa-tions on March 18. The DVD single will include the song, its music video, and a “making-of” of the music video.

“Assassination Classroom” Director Says Trailer for Sequel is Already Filmed

The Toho-distributed film has drawn 1 million audience

In an interview with Mantan Web posted yesterday, Eiichiro Hasumi, the director of the currently-showing the live-action film adaptation of Yusei Matsui’s Ansatsu Kyoushitsu/Assassination Classroom manga talked about his wish for the sequel and confirmed he has already filmed a trailer for it.

The highly anticipated film was released in Japan on March 21 and debuted No.1 in the weekend box office, then drew one million moviegoers by its second week much faster than expected. Therefore, the expectation for the sequel has become greater. Hasumi says:

“Since the serialization of the manga still continues, I discussed with the manga publishing team how far I could show (in the first film). I’ve also talked with the film staff that I really wanted to the second. It’s all depend on how successful it can be. If it’s successful enough, I’m ready to do the sequel anytime. To tell the truth, We’ve already filmed a trailer for the sequel. I want to attach it to the first if it’s doing well in theaters.”
