Plot Summary:

Saw it in 3D, and it was my first 3D movie, my head hurts, but it was awesome and 3 hours long… we got there about 11 or so and then waited in the theatre till 1 then watched the movie… best seats in the house.

Going to try to catch it tomorrow.

Though, I think I already dislike some of the plot for it. Another, humans will not learn from their past and be A$$blanks in space movie. Kill the savages! /sigh… By the time we can make ships to take us to different worlds, there wouldn’t be a ‘special’ resource that we could not find else where. The amount of raw material in space is unfathomable.

the thing is you have to find it…

another thing is this is the nature of humanity…we are greedy and selfish creatures, this is what happened before and will happen again…when it comes down to money, nothing matters, even God just becomes a tool for justification of the finance. As long as money will be involved in anything even the lives of anything would be considered second to those who would gain money.

This is the reality of what it is to be human. You take what you will, and when you cannot get it by one means, you will get it by another.

There is no difference, as benevolent as we may seem at time to others, there are the nonbenevolent who will do more damage than can be healed.

The art, visuals, scope and cinematography was breath-taking , but I had problems with the script. I’ve seen this theme before. Like in the Kevin Costner film. You could have re-titled this “Dancing with Aliens”

There was a cgi movie that came out earlier this year that had the same theme/story: “Battle for Terra”. It was a decent little movie.

I think it is something of the current plot trend, but if Cameron had this in the works for seven years, it is likely the bunnies were taken from him somewhat

You gotta admit the teeth thing they had going was incredible…while they talked I mean

I saw this movie in 3D on Saturday. This was the best special effects movie I’ve ever seen. I thought the story and plot were pretty good as well. I really have no complaints.
Slick

I saw this movie in 3D about a week or two ago as well, possibly one of the best movies I’ve seen in awhile. Like Slick said, some of the best special effects you’ll find, especially since it’s in 3D. I wouldn’t pass up on the 3D either, the experience is with that. Sitting in the theater trying to grap at the stuff floating on the screen because it looks so real is just too good to pass up. Even the subtitles for the alien language parts were amazing looking.

I guess I can agree with some people that the story was probably a weaker point of the movie, and that it was a thinly veiled environmentalist message. Either way though, even during the plot progressing scenes, there was never a dull moment in the movie, so I can’t really detract from the movie for the story. Hell, the movie was 2 and a half hours long, and I wanted to see more.

… I went annoyed about… going to see it, but… I liked it.

… The HD made the screen blurred and… hard to follow… when the panther thing… attacked.

oh man when I saw it, I was ducking sometimes, or when the bushes went by, I was think I gotta push that away. but I managed to keep myself in check. My complaint is That I was completely in pain throughout the last 2 1/4 hours of the movies since my eyes decided they were not used to 3D cg…I have to say the effects when the little floaty thing’s when in 3d were great when a bush went by I was trying to push it out of the way… I was amazed at it since it was like whoa…any who…I recommend it…it appears this movie has broken to 1 billion dollar barrier, like James Cameron’s Titanic, this guy is f*cking rich guys, i mean I think these were the last two movies he did in and they broke a billion, so when he does battle angel galita, it should be great , I think if he did it in a three kind of arch like lord of the rings, episode one, alita in the scrap yard episode two alita as an agent of tipheres and when she is dies, and three when alita conquers space and makes tipheres and the scrap yard independent states would be great.! I wortoe this drunk or highly buzzed I am not yet at my limit but I know I won’t have a hangover since It is junmai ginjo-sake… so suck my balls!!!

I am looking forward to the next couple of years, I think some decent movies will come out, i definately cannot wait of the last airbender to come out everyone is like shamylan eeew he will f- it up, but I have faith my friends I have faith…

I still haven’t seen it yet but I’m now I’d like too. The movie has grossed over a billion dollars, already the 4th highest grossing movie ever.

Do you make it a goal to post on the forums whilst drinking?

Anywho, I think the 3D would have gotten on my nerves too if I wasn’t sitting where I was sitting. I was in the perfect spot for the screen to completely envelope my vision so that screen didn’t take up only partial amount of my vision, making it less irritating on my eyes. Also, since I could view the entire screen instead of just a partial amount, by sitting too close, I wouldn’t have to pick and choose what I was watching my having to position my head. You also have to be careful with what you choose to focus on, since it could start looking unnatural for your eyes to look at something thats in focus in the foreground, but then look at something that is out of focus on the background, making it seem unnatural for your brain when looking through a 3D environment.

There was one time when I had to take the glasses off and rub my eyes though, but after that I was fine. Of course, since this is the first major 3D production of its kind, there are still a lot of things we can adjust to make the experience smoother. Can’t wait to see what happens in the future.

Did anyone see the preview for Alice in Wonderland in 3D? I absolutely can’t wait… even if Johnny Depp gives me the creeps in that movie…

THAT MOVIE WAS SOOOOOOOOOO COOL I WAS SOO FREAKED OUT I LOVED THE GLOWING PLANTS AND EVERYTHING I THOUGHT THE GIRL AVATAR WAS COOL.

I still have yet to see this, and don’t know if I will in theaters. I’ve been so burnt out on movies lately, that I just haven’t wanted to go see anything. May see this later this week though, if I get drug to it.

I’d so go see it in theaters, and only in 3D. Half the experience was watching it this way. I’ll probably never even watch this on DVD thanks to how awesome it was in 3D and on a big screen.
- Near the end of the hit film “Avatar,” the villain snarls at the hero, “How does it feel to betray your own race?” Both men are white — although the hero is inhabiting a blue-skinned, 9-foot-tall, long-tailed alien.

Strange as it may seem for a film that pits greedy, immoral humans against noble denizens of a faraway moon, “Avatar” is being criticized by a small but vocal group of people who allege it contains racist themes — the white hero once again saving the primitive natives.

[edit]

“Maybe there is something he does want to say and put across” about race, Bogle said. “Maybe if he had a black hero in there, that point would have been even stronger.”
I would like to requote the last bit.

Why does it have to be a black guy, why not make the Hero Native American… or Asian, or middle eastern? Its the same thing, its racist no matter what. Breathing is racist, god forbid you sneeze near some one who is of another race, you sneezed cause you’re allergic to me is that it, racist. racist racist racist, I might be a little racist now and then, but it is a conditioning brought on to regular exposure to regular racism. Stereotyping. the reason it had to be a white messiah is because the whole black messiah thing would not fit into the formula.

Native american might have fit but who knows were that would have taken us. you know Iam dutch irish Cherokee german scottish and I put other on racial identifiers, you don’t have to but I am a mutt and when I need to fill it out in the other blank I put just that mutt…stupid game

the post turned into a rant, but hey I was a good boy about it…

I’m not really angry over people, but I find I have to agree with Michelle, Why not just enjoy a movie? Why start an “I’m offended” Shit-Storm over this.

Cameron did this movie how he wanted to, so now that its done and made the second most money a film has ever made just sit back and think, “what have I learned?”

I hope aliens do show up and whoop our asses at some point, it would suck to be one to die, but if “humanity” becomes “Humanity” then I see little trouble.

James Cameron Delays Avatar Sequels Until Late 2017

Director James Cameron says during his New Zealand trip on Wednesday that the first sequel to his Avatar film will be delayed until late 2017, since he and his team are writing the scripts for all three sequel movies simultaneously. The movie had been slated to open in late 2016.

Cameron previously stated that he plans to start developing the live-action adaptation of Yukito Kishiro’s Battle Angel Alita (GUNNM) manga in 2017. He has also stated previously that the film would not start until his work on the Avatar sequel films were finished.

Well at least he’s most likely to avoid any major competition. Might as well take his time.
