Aikatsu! film also opens, ranks #1 in viewer satisfaction
The movie data firm Kōgyō Tsūshin reported on Monday that the live-action film of Io Sakisaka’s Blue Spring Ride (Ao Haru Ride) romance manga opened this past weekend at #1 in the Japanese box office. The film sold 210,000 tickets for 307 screens and earned about 241 million yen (US$2.05 million).
The story revolves around Futaba Yoshioka (played by Tsubasa Honda), a girl who was in love with a boy named Kō Tanaka (played by Masahiro Higashide) in middle school. However, after a misunderstanding, their relationship as friends ends when he transfers schools over summer vacation. In high school, her world is turned around once again when she meets Kō again, this time under the name of Kō Mabuchi.
The cast for the film also includes Yua Shinkawa as Shūko Murao, Ryo Yoshizawa as Aya Kominato, Izumi Fujimoto as Yūri Makita, and Yū Koyanagi as Yōichi Tanaka. Takahiro Miki (Solanin, Hidamari no Kanojo, We Were There) directed the film off a script by Tomoko Yoshida (Gaku, Kanojo wa Uso o Ai Shisugiteru).
