What started as one of the biggest pirate sites, which then evolved into a culmination of both a legal paid and free variant, which then downsized the free variant to only the most popular Shounen series, now has cut off the thing that started them to begin with…
Yeah, and previously they had the gall to charge us for something we got for free until they got rid of it (manga), now they do this. What’s next? Going to add ads in the lowest tier sub, now?
I’d add a ad supported $5 a month subscription if I was running CR. Sell gift cards at Walmart.
I said this before they are just pushing current and future fans to piracy.
It’s odd to me Crunchyroll originally went legit to combat piracy. Not saying things should be free especially since they have at this point gimped their incoming money with not releasing a lot of stuff on disc.
Noticing a lot of not good stuff with them. No disc release for a lot of series, very few discounts on what they do, no budget line, using AI for stuff, doing away with stuff, video quality being gimped, etc, etc, etc…..
Let’s not forget licensing so much it leaves scraps for others.
It’s more leaning in the anti-consumer direction the more I think about it.
Thanks CR I haven’t bought anything from you in 2026 so far (Been getting my manga through Amazon) , Please keep it up, as I see you’re pandering to the Shonen / Isekai crowd. (Should be getting Sentai’s slate this Thuirsday)
Looks like this may have been delayed or not happening.
The listing has been pulled from most if not all stores now. Usually if just delayed they leave a listing it’s missing from CR’s site now.
