We work hard to bring our viewers the most anticipated anime titles and couldn’t be more excited to share this season’s strong lineup — including franchise hits, like Cardcaptor Sakura and Dragon Ball Super, as well as anticipated debut titles like Darling in the FRANXX and A Place Further Than the Universe. We know this is a big weekend, and we’re doing everything we can to prepare.
Recently, we’ve seen huge increases in site traffic, surpassing previous seasons and beyond even our best predictions. We’re thrilled by the surprising growth, no doubt fueled by the release of inspired new content from Japan and growth of anime fandom. However, during recent weekends, many of our members experienced degradation or accessibility issues — solving for these challenges is our highest priority and we’re diligently working on both short-term and long-term solutions. We have deployed several new measures, including additional servers, enhanced hardware, database reconfigurations, and caching improvements, especially in anticipation of the excitement for DBS tonight. While we are seeing promising initial results, we are continuing to work on improvements to fully stabilize the site for our global community.
That all said, some members may still see some degradation at peak times during the weekend. If you are having issues while watching, you may want to check back after 9pm PST. This is not and should not be the norm, and we’re working around the clock to make sure we’re doing the best job we can for our fans. Thank you for sticking with us!

Some of our Crunchyroll community may have recently seen promotion for new subscription packages that include both Crunchyroll and VRV. We’re writing to shed some light, as we realize there may be some questions. All 35M+ members of our Crunchyroll community (thank you!) will not be seeing this — rather, this is part of a new promotion we’re testing out. We’re always looking to improve the experience for our community, and these types of tests enable us to do so. For now, only a subset of fans will be seeing this, but we will be analyzing the data to determine the best improvements. At the same time, this also allows for some fans to take advantage of a new subscription plan, if they are interested.
We know that there are lots of fans who love both sides of Ellation, Crunchyroll and VRV. Our teams in San Francisco, Los Angeles, Tokyo, and Chișinău develop the product, design, engineering, marketing and content behind both, and we hope this opportunity will introduce fans to more of the shows they love.
