Well the thing is Gunn made them a while back before he ever made the 1st Guardians movie, apologized for them, and the Guardians cast went to bat for him when he got removed from Vol.3 . Heās a proven moneymaker and cares about the material. Hereās hoping he can turn the DC movies around.
DC was stupid about the whole thing right from the beginning, they wanted Marvelās success without putting in the work that Marvel did to establish how their Movie Universe and characters worked. They built up to an legitimate threat which payed off in Infinity War and Endgame
DC on the other hand wanted to go with Darkseid right from the get go with no build up, which failed to gain traction and excitement., after Man of Steel, which was really divisive among the fanbase, they went with Batman v Superman to Justice League., with some pretty questionable Casting choices.

Iāve said this before. For some reason DC stuff anymore seems to work better as animated or tv show type format. Not sure if itās them trying to stuff to much in or not the best script. The TV and Animated writers seem to understand the work better or maybe itās the fans they understand better. A lot of the movies felt like they fell flat to me.
To be fair for me the Marvel cinemaverse started off strong and really became lackluster the more they added to it.

I think the general public wants DC heroes potrayed a certain way. Marvel had the benefit of using lesser know characters to build from. I doubt DC will ever figure out how to replicate what Marvel did in this generation.
