I keep getting a “denied by region” message when I try to play anything. I live in Australia and I’m a bit confused about this.

At this time, the owners of this material… the Japanese companies who own the rights have only given ADV Films and Anime Network digital rights to the United States and Canada. This is unfortunately the way it works in most cases with Region 1 companies. Japanese companies in most cases have divided the world into several regions and do not give worldwide access.
However, Anime Network is hoping to expand and provide more access in the future.
In the meantime, stay tuned or email the Japanese companies requesting you’d like to see their shows (as an Australian) on Anime Network.
Thankyou, that’s helpful! I’ll send them a nice little email if I can track down their addresses!
The best way to do that is to look up the Japanese Production companies/studios of a series you’re interested in, via Anime News Network. Write down (all) the production companies and studios involved then google them, they all have websites with email access.
It won’t be easy though and there’s no guarantee they’ll respond or read your email.
