The thing is, I just don’t know how interested I am in Escaflowne as I’ve yet to see it. $65 bucks to just get half of it is a pretty steep cost of entry. Especially when it doesn’t include the DVDs with the original dub.
The problem I have with that is Funi dubs have been of varying quality lately, both broadcast and normal. Most recent exceptional dub I recall was Rolling Girls.
Right now, I’m rewatching the classic Solty Rei. That dub is 9 years old and it hands-down destroys most anything Funimation has rolled out in the last few years. Importantly, everyone in the cast of Solty Rei is still actively dubbing today.
If I’m directly paying for a dub, I want Solty Rei levels of dub awesomeness and would be peeved if I ended up with a Grimgar level dub.
