Katsucon!!! I will be there and am a Volunteer as well  Can’t wait

i’ll be going to katsucon!

ps: is it weird for someone to go to a con by themselves?

I don’t think so, as not everyone knows other people that enjoy anime. Im going to anime matsuri in april by myself. i use to know a few others that would of liked to go; thats not the case anymore though. i think it would be more fun with some one you knew, but hey maybe you could find some cool people there, i sure hope i do when i go

Kami-con ill be there even if i have to fly out there ill be there looking kawaii as always as rin kagamine fro vocaloid can wait to have fun

Tuscaloosa, right now ;_;

Gladly skipping AMKE this year in favor of ACEN. Panels at AMKE sucked.

Did Katsucon 2012. It was fun enough. It’s nice to have a local (to me) con in the winter. I got a whole slew of Sentai stuff signed, though the guest list wasn’t too heavy on Sentai-affiliated people :frowning:

Sadly MegaCon happened to be on the same weekend which caused the guest list to be curtailed.

I don’t think it’s strange to go to a con solo. Last year, when I heard that anime legends Matt Greenfield, TIffany Grant, and Doug Smith were all going to be at a con together I had to go to the event solo as my anime friends couldn’t go. Their loss

Hey, that’s true man! Cons are just all around fun, and with such a friendly atmosphere it’s hard to feel alone.

We went to the MegaCon in Orlando, the turnout was very good.

They expanded their venue into three of the convention halls this year, so even with a noticeably higher turnout there wasn’t the crowded atmosphere of the last two cons.

Saw some of the Funimation voice actors and PR people, also saw the one Media Blasters rep.

Had yet another close encounter with Vic Mignogna, I swear he picks the tallest person in the room and then does something silly in front of him or her. This time he was shrieking at the Funimation folks in a high pitched voice, “Honey, I’m hoooommmmeee!”

I’m going to try to make some more of the local cons this year.

So what is your favorite attraction to cons?

But the Funimation PR guys were at Katsucon…? Media Blasters had a table there, though without their DC-area traditional crossplayer staffing it. If Media Blasters can hold tables at 2 simultaneous cons I have some hope for them surviving. I think “some” of the Funi actors is an understatement as MegaCon managed to procure practically the whole current Funi roster, with the exception of Tatum.

On the plus side, we did get a few Sentai-affiliated guests at Katsucon, MegaCon didn’t manage to steal away the Ayres brothers or Josh Grelle.

Rigum frigum Megacon ragum fragum :frowning:

To answer the question, I go to cons for the guests. The fan panels and the spectacle of it all come in second  Though in the case of Katsucon, the venue alone is a pretty compelling reason. I’ve been to many cons, and the National Harbor has been the most impressive venue. The polar opposite of events like AnimeNEXT and AnimeNORTH that, while fun, are basically held in warehouses.
