The Crunchyroll merger has created the largest and most powerful anime company outside of Japan. Yet, pay rates for dubbing are among the lowest in the acting business, and the problem is even worse in anime.
You know, with AMC backing Sentai, you would think that they could possibly switch to union dubs (I don’t know how they could justify the increased costs though) but dang it would be hilarious for Hidive / Sentai to put one over on CR. Just think about getting Crispin Freeman, Steve Blum, Mary Elizabeth McGlynn, etc on a Hidive dub. Might not happen but it could be a big win for Sentai / Hidive.
Sentai from what I have heard mentioned from Translators and VA’s pays them very well. Maybe that accounts for the higher prices people complain about on blu-ray releases. I don’t know. I do know Funimation/CR stuff is pretty cheap and they don’t pay well though. 
I think it was mentioned someplace a while back Texas also has a seperate screen actors guild ,but I can’t find where I read that.
