Genres: action, comedy, romance, science fiction Themes: academy, fanservice, harem, Mecha Objectionable content: Mild Plot Summary: Infinite Stratos (IS), a weaponized exoskeleton system, has become the dominant tool of warfare and conflict. Unfortunately for the men in society, only women are able to operate Infinite Stratos…with very few exceptions. One of those exceptions is Ichika Orimura, an orphan raised by his older sister, who is herself a famous IS pilot. When his compatibility with Infinite Stratos is discovered after he accidentally touches one at the age of 15, he is given a scholarship and enrolled in a school that specializes in training IS pilots. Which means an interesting life surrounded by girls for this shy, unassuming boy. Number of episodes: 12 Vintage: 2011-01-06

Later that summer, Houki is working at the Shinonono Shrine’s festival and is surprised to see Ichika. She is given time off from working the booth and was about to walk around the festival alone with him when they are joined by Ran. Genres: action, romance, science fiction, tournament Themes: fanservice, harem, mecha, school, school life Objectionable content: Significant Plot Summary: There are probably worse things that can happen to Ichika Orimura besides being the first male on the planet capable of driving an Infinite Stratos powered suit. Rivalry between his childhood pals Lingyin and Houki was bad, but keeping his dignity intact when British and German pilots Cecillia and Laura joined in the melee was even worse. HOUSTON, January 18, 2011—Sentai Filmworks today announced its acquisition of INFINITE STRATOS, the latest hit anime series from 8-Bit (Durarara!!). Based on the series of hit novels by Izuru Yumizuru that have already spawned a hit manga and internet radio series, INFINITE STRATOS takes the battle of the sexes to a new level, flipping conventional gender relationships through a maverick series of high speed inverted power rolls over the course of 12 extraordinary episodes!
10 years ago, the development of the revolutionary Infinite Stratos powered exoskeleton changed the world’s balance of power overnight… but unfortunately, while the distribution of IS systems to every nation on Earth HAS ushered in a new era of peace, the fact that only women have thus far been able to pilot the Stratos systems has sent the relationship between the XX and XY-chromosomed halves of the human race into a spiraling tailspin! So when 15 year old Ichika Orimura is suddenly discovered to be the first male with the ability to control an IS, whatever plans he might have had for his own future are tossed out the window even as he’s thrown to the wolves and enrolled at the otherwise entirely female Infinite Stratos Academy by order of the Japanese government! It’s one Boy Vs. all the Girls, and the question isn’t who’ll come out on top… it’s who will survive the educational experience in INFINITE STRATOS!

I will definitely be checking this one out. One great thing about simulcasting here is that a VOD run is likely to follow shortly afterward. So I will probably not finish this streaming as I didn’t HOTD or Daimao, but I will probably rewatch the entirety when it hits TV.
I watched episode 3, comprehend that at my internet speed. Why can’t TAN have a buffer, or at least add it to Hulu, get some ad revenue…
As for the episode
So another girl, great and I love how cliché this actually is numbering the childhood friends. The fight next episode should be good and Ichika is an idiot
This episode gave me a real Akamatsu vibe, might explain why ANN hates it and I like it.
I just finished the first 3 episodes, and I liked it much more than I expected. It has the potential to be a decent series. I am hoping future episodes have more action than fluff.
Slick
As lame as the first episode was, I’m glad I stuck around for 2 and 3. This has turned out to be better than I initially thought it would be, and I’ll probably watch the whole thing. Decent pick up TAN!
Though it does seem to have the usual harem trappings, it actually seems like a pretty decent show so far.
I did however enjoy the the first three eps. and ep. 03 ended on a cliffhanger, which I really like, since it is ment to bring the watcher back for the next ep.
I’m still sad that they didn’t pick up Maho Shojo Madoka Magica instead, but I’ll definitely be keeping up with this one.
In Summary:
Infinite Stratos is predictably entertaining. So far, there is nothing here that has not been done before plenty of times. But still, I found myself having a lot of fun with it. I do not yet have a sense of where it is going overall, but what I have seen has been decent. I do not expect it to be mind-blowing, but as long as it stays the course and keeps entertaining, I will be perfectly happy. Mildly recommended so far.
