If only Sentai could have also been the one commissioned to dub it too.
The way they chose to animate this “on the 3s”, even though it is CG and has no reason not to be fluid (it’s not like someone has to draw the intermediary frames), really made it hard for me to watch as the “stop motion effect” got to me.
As cool as it is that Netflix is releasing this on home video, and that it is Sentai doing it, I’m probably going to have to pass on it.
Makes me wonder, did Sentai have the show all along and seeing how they weren’t getting any traction with Toonami decided on the next best thing: Netflix? Same with Seven Deadly Sins? Exclusivity and all that.
Sure it’s one thing to stream on CR/TAN, but you’re preaching to the choir when you do that. Better to convert the uninitiated and get new followers.
It could be similar to the CR / Discotek deal. Netflix had home video rights and wanted to work with one of the licensors to get the home video release out, and Sentai offered them what they were looking for. (Special Edition extras etc.)
