Episode 16 –
spoiler
The Sahuagin are still fighting on the coast and now an army of goblins are invading the forest. The group at the dungeon is pretty much cut off from everyone and can’t get in touch with Marielle and the group on the coast. Nyanta took a look at the approaching army and notes that there are also hobgoblins, trolls, and demon beasts in their numbers. A report is made to Shiroe, and Shiroe contacts the Round Table with the news.
This may be tied into the game. There was an event within the game called “Goblin King’s Return” and now it looks like it happening for real this time. Since the adventurers were busy with their own problems, they had not taken on any quests and now this all but forgotten event is about to become serious. The hero Knights of Izumo are mentioned and they would be strong enough to defeat the army, but Shiroe isn’t sure they even exist. In either case, people are going to be killed. The adventurers can come back, but for the People of the Land, death is permanent. Now might be a good time for Shiroe to be worried about that memory loss problem as well.
Sergiatte has been informed of the goblin army as well by his own messengers. Lenessia hasn’t seen Crusty and looks a little down. Her father comes to inform her of the news. He will be returning to Maihama and wants his daughter to remain in the safety of the palace. It’s important that the conference continues and that the lords come together.
Marielle’s group is safe but she’s worried. Naotsugu and Nyanta reassure her and Naotsugu tells her that he’s sure Shiroe will come up with a good plan. That does seem to cheer her up. However, the light from torches has appeared on the horizon. They put out the fires and Naotsugu examines a map. It looks like the army will attack Choushi first for supplies. But this is a smaller raiding army from what Nyanta saw earlier. That main division is further north. The kids want to do their best to protect Choushi and Rudy wants to go as well, but that seems to upset Isuzu. However, Rudy reminds her that the people in Choushi don’t even know that the goblins are coming, but Isuzu still puts up an argument.
Shiroe has requested that the West Wind Brigade join him at the palace. If worst comes to worst, they can help with the defense. The nobles haven’t approached them though and Henrietta is sure that they are also discussing the army. Crusty wonders if they should go to them, but although Shiroe agrees, he says that he has something to tell them first. He finally tells them about the risk of memory loss that death for them will take. There’s a bit of a panic, but Shiroe has no details for them, and will continue to investigate, although it seems to be true. Crusty realizes that this is why he has already lost some of his memories, and they seem to have been minor memories of the real world. Crusty tells them that “you forget that you forgot”.
Marielle is against going to Choushi and wants to await the outcome of the conference. Nyanta and the other adults give their opinions, but Rudy is still determined to go. This upsets Isuzu again. I wonder why she is so concerned for Rudy. More arguments and Minori comes up with the idea of making themselves an advance party. They are soon on their way, but Minori is still of the mind that they should protect the town. However, they may be too late.
The group comes upon two goblins and a destroyed village. Tohya recognizes the doll that one of the goblins is holding. His anger drives him to attack the goblins. Rudy assists and the goblins are killed. This only makes the group want to protect the people even more, but Isuzu is still against it. It was sad to see Tohya bury the doll in place of the little girl that it had belonged to. And Minori may have a plan. Nyanta agrees with her as the adults join them. They knew the kids were going to end up fighting. LOL Everyone wants to hear Minori’s idea and she presents it to them. Instead of taking on the huge job of protecting Choushi, she wants to take the initiative, and attack the goblins instead! Minori may end up rivaling Shiroe as a master strategist, but he did teach her after all.
