While the comparisons to Sword Art Online are inevitable about this show, I think it’s actually pretty good. Main character isn’t some Uber Bad ass like Kirito in SAO, which is nice. You need a party to succeed in the game and in this one, you can’t die, but take a penalty.
I agree with you. The story has enough differences to make it interesting. I did try to compare it to SAO at first, but changed my mind after the first few minutes of the first episode. I like the direction of the story so far, and I like the characters.
It was funny when Akatsuki informed the guys that she’s about the same age as Shiro. And when it comes to Naotsugu, I like how she always acts first and asks second. LOL But I enjoy watching the trio work as a team.
The fact that no one truly dies adds a unique aspect to the game. Players can be as evil as they want to be without fear of repercussion. I wonder if that will change though. It would be nice to see that if someone dies a certain number of times, they will stay dead. It’s sad too the way the bad guys treat the non-player characters.
And poor little Serara seems to have quite the enemy!
If only this could have come out before SAO as now Log Horizon, the vastly superior show, will be forever seen as riding the coattails of the lame SAO when it should have been the other way around. Oh well.
Sentai’s description for this series is a little wonky. It was informative as I did not know that it was by the guy who did Maoyu (what happened to that one?) or that it would be 25 episodes long. Hopefully it won’t really be 2 separate series under the same general title, as SAO was
I’m wondering who they’ll pick for the dub cast. I think that Sentai has better choices for the main cast except for the tank. I’m not sure who they have on hand for him. Maybe they’ll surprise me with a hilarious anti-typecast casting, like how they cast Andrew Love in a “Vic” character in Campione…?
Second best show of the season IMO. Glad Sentai announced that they snagged it.
My knowledge of Phi Brain pretty much both begins and ends with the trivia that PB does what Outbreak Company was too wimpy to do and actually shows the viewers complete puzzles so they can “play along at home”.
If Sentai had been able to hold onto Welcome To The NHK then we would know that Log Horizon would be at least the second such series
The Phi-Brain page here is for three seasons (one of which is starting on the 9th), so 50 episodes that are sub and dub, and 25 more that will appear weekly sub only.
The trio enters the city and Shiro finds Serara. And he knows Nyanta! Nyanta will return with Serara as well, but first they have to get away from Demikas and his guild.
It was a great fight with some fantastic teamwork! And it was funny to see cute, little Serara deal the killing blow. But Demikas has vowed revenge and he and Londark seem to be dangerous enemies to have. But for now the party is safe and on its way back to Akihabara.
Serara is so relieved to be safe! I’m happy they’ve finally found some food with taste too. And now they know the secret – don’t use the in-game menu. Prepare meals with your own ingredients and cook it yourself. But it’s never worked before. Of course, as Nyanta explains, you also need to be a chef – as he is!
Shiro is also worried about other friends - a boy and a girl that are twins. They are in a guild now and should be okay, but it looks like they’re having a hard time. I wonder if Shiro will rescue them as well at some point. Meanwhile, Serara is reunited with her guild and everyone is overjoyed to see her. Mission complete!
