Does and should it really matter in voice acting though?
At this point I’m at the they should just not release a dub for anything if it’s going to be this complicated.

Seriously, I get the whole thing about representation, but you could use the same argument about Dani Chambers getting cast as Chise in the Ancient Magus Bride. Well Chise is clearly Japanese, so why wasn’t an Asian-American cast as her? (She’s really good as Chise)
Isn’t the whole point of acting playing someone you aren’t and make it believable to the audience your acting for? I swear they all have to make it about something other than making the best project you can. The director felt his 2 main choices were the best for the role, that should be the end of it, but whatever sigh
