Monster is coming to SyFy on October 12!!!   Finally something potentially great on Syfy.

Wonder if this means Naruto will be coming to Syfy?

Now let’s just hope they don’t diminish the series with their infamous scene cutting or cutting at bad times. I’m sure everyone watching Rave Master recently remembers how they cut to commercial during that emotional scene. -_-

I can’t wait!!! This is one series I’m really looking forward to. Looks amazing, and It’s great it will really air on TV. Viz and Sci-Fi score major points for this. Ok ADV time to sell your soul to Manga as well, get some shows on TV again!

This is outstanding news! I’ve been wanting to see this highly rated series for a long time now. Thanks for the info.

I just hope they don’t cut it all to shreds with all the commercials they have.

Other than that, YAY!

HAHAHA Keep Dream!!! You know ti going to be cut to shi+. Look at how there doing gundam. LOOK AT IT!!

Yeah! I’m glad monster is going to be on though I am still buying the dvd when it comes out. I read that it’s coming out in december on dvd on another board but I haven’t heard confirmation on that.

Yeah, big thanks for the news. Monster is about the only show from Viz I have a big interest in seeing, so I’m glad I will be able to finally give it a go. I guess this might explain the reasoning behind the continual DVD delays. Hopefully it will finally come out early next year.

And I really wouldn’t be surprised to Naruto Shippuden end up on Syfy either. It could explain why they haven’t made any announcements about their broadcast partner yet. Though I do wonder what kind of deal Viz had to make to get TV exposure for Monster.

Dub on Monster: Liam O’Brien said he was cast as the lead in Monster. Personally I think that’s perfect casting right there. The only other people who I think would have fit the character are Ted Cole (but he’s in Vancouver) or Kirk Thornton (or maybe Dan Green, just because I think he is all that is epic and would like to hear more from him. Not that he fits the character or anything lol). And with Richard Epcar in the cast as well, I’m really looking forwad to the dub now. Thoughts on it?

On the upside Monster is coming… very much looking forward to it.

Monster

starts tomorrow night, Monday, October 12, 2009
11:00pm ET/10:00pm CT

On SyFy

Anyone know if SciFi… err Siffy plans to run all 74 episodes?

They never specified. Viz usually doesn’t make deals wholesale, they usually do batch deals.

Probably the whole thing will run though I wonder if Viz has the whole thing dubbed. Should considering they’ve had it for a little while now ,but with them hard to say.

I’m very excited to see this new series starting today. I’ve been hearing great things about it for a long time now, and have wanted to see it since I first saw the description years ago. I’ll be sure to posts my thoughts on the first 2 episodes later on tonight.

I believe they just finished dubbing it last month, or were very close to wrapping it up.

I’ll be watching tonight. Least I don’t have to stay up to 2:30am.

Monster = Yawn. Kinda boring, and I’m not sure I like the style. However I do know someone who could be Dr. Tenma

Huh? That was not at all boring! Are you mad. That was a great start to the series in my opinion. I heard this show was slow, but so far it’s pretty fast paced if you ask me. Then again I read the first volume of the manga so I knew what to look out for ;). I stopped after the first volume though, as I’d rather watch the show.

Anyway I thought it was very interesting, lots of DRAMA, especially around the parts where Tenma doesn’t operate on the Mayor, but instead on the little boy Johan. Also Tenma is such a good character, you gata like the guy. He’s a lot like Keaton, such an admiral person. His fiance, Eva, however is such a total evil person. I’m not sure there are people out there who would atucally say the things she said outloud (“people are not equal”) But I sure as hell know there are people who beleive in that. Her father is not much better either, only worried about money and the hospital doing well. Screw the little boy, screw the turkish man (fyi Germany really has a minority of Turks living there among the over 90% ethnic Germans so this is very realistic), all that matters is the hosptial doing good. Selfish Pr*ck! He kinda got what was coming to him. Lots of morals are being thrown around, but not in a condisening way, nor is the plot suffering because of it. I think I get why everyone praises Urasawa now.

As for the animation and artwork. One word, PERFECT. I love this style, I LOVE the character designs, the color pallete is so rich, and the background are incredbly well detailed. How do they keep it like this for 74 episodes? Madhouse just rules. The illusion of debth is great as well. As for the music, it’s very conservative so far. Not really in your face or anything. I think this could have really used some epic Death Note like tracks thrown in there. But what is there is very nice, and helps hold the drama. I do like it, but I feel there’s not enough of it, and it’s not pronounced enough. The dub however is amazing, top notch. I had one or two very minor problems with it, but I really love it. Liam O’Brien is kicking all sorts of ass. Although I still think Kirk Thornton might have been a good choice for Tenma as well. Still O’Brien fits for the dark thrillers, he did an amazing job in Ergo Proxy, and he’s amazing me again here. Eva (played by Tara Platt, I only slighly rememebr her now as the older girl in Kite Liberator, ah no wonder why I liked that voice) is also very well cast, and is really impressing me along with her Father (not sure who plays him). The detective is great, and so is Dr. Becker (Mike McFarland ?? Really??). Although the voice playing Becker is not anything like I imagined he’d sound like, after listening to him for awhile, I think he is doing a great job and very well cast. Seems like they knew what they were doign with this dub, as I am liking that voice now, it makes sense. Also great Patrick Seitz (director of the dub) cameos as the TV reporter and a random doctor. The dub is VERY fresh, despite having a veteran cast. I am really likeing this so far.

The animation is a bit too rugged in my opinion. The show kind of reminded me of Hell Girl in a weird way. I kept half expecting him to “pull the thread” on those bastards.
