‘Knights of Sidonia’ Season 2 Coming to Netflix

Polygon Pictures’ popular anime adaptation of Tsutomu Nihei’s sci-fi manga Knights of Sidonia will return exclusively to Netflix with season two, kicking off July 3 in all territories where Netflix is available. Season one is available to stream now.

The second season picks up as the “seed ship” Sidonia continues to search for a new home for humanity among the stars, while escaping the “gauna” — destructive life-forms which obliterated the Solar System many centuries ago.

Netflix Adding Three Original Preschool Toons

Netflix is expanding its programming offerings through its Internet TV streaming service by adding three new animated series to its slate of original preschool content. On the heels of this month’s earlier announcement of the preschool originals Cirque du Soleil – Luna Petunia and Puffin Rock, Netflix reveals the next couple years will see Word Party, Kazoops! and True & the Rainbow Kingdom join the fun.

Word Party (26 x 11; worldwide launch 2016) is a vocabulary building show from The Jim Henson Company that follows four adorable baby animals who love to sing, dance and play. The show invites young viewers to help teach the baby animals new words and learn them themselves, celebrating new acquisitions with a Word Party. The show is created using Henson Digital Puppetry Studio.

Kazoops! (13 episode launch international 2016, U.K. & Aus. to follow) centers on imaginative Monty, who has a great sense of adventure and is always asking the question “Why?” Accompanied by his best friend Jimmy Jones and the family pet pig, Monty challenges everyday preconceptions about life through the power of his imagination. Produced by Cheeky Little in partnership with ABC and BBC; CG animation influenced by claymation and 2D graphic art.

True & the Rainbow Kingdom (10 x 22; international launch 2017, Canada to follow) is a comedy adventure series based on artwork created by the Friends With You collective and its positive messages of Magic, Luck and Friendship. True is a bright and resilient girl who serves as the guardian of the magical Rainbow Kingdom. With her best friend Bartleby the cat, she uses ingenuity and creative thinking to solve problems and bring harmony to the land. Produced by Guru Studio, Home Plate Ent. and i am OTHER.

Netflix Price to Increase Gradually

With an increasing portfolio of impressive Netflix Original series, reports of price increase doesn’t come as a real shocker. Notable Netflix originals include: House of Cards, Orange is the New Black, The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, Grace and Frankie, among other favorites

The current price is $7.99 per month, however, Netflix CEO Reed Hastings shared that prices will increase gradually. The Guardian reports that according to Hastings they “want to take it very slow”, and that the increased value of adding and building more content “over the next decade” will be appropriate for the planned price increase.

We’ll have to stay tuned what Netflix has in development both in content and pricing!

Netflix Lineup Boasts New Toons, Third ‘BoJack’ Order
Jul 28th, 2015

Leading internet TV network Netflix has announced premiere dates, new series and specials to be available globally in all its territories in the near future. Among these are a new grownup toon from comedian Bill Burr, a slew of kid-friendly programs and season three of BoJack Horseman.

F Is for Family is created by and stars Bill Burr, with Laura Dern and Justin Long. Produced by Gaumont International Television, the series is a riff on family sitcoms based on Burr’s standup, particularly issues of political correctness and the joys of complaining, and is set in the 1970s. Emmy-winning Simpsons writer Michael Price is co-creator. (Fourth Quarter 2015)

New original kids & family series include DreamWorks Animation’s Dinotrux (Aug. 14), Cartoon Saloon’s Puffin Rock (Sept. 1); and the revamps of ’80s classics Popples (November) from Saban Brands and Care Bears & Cousins from Moonscoop (December) for young audiences. Animated fare for older kids will be augmented with Way Too Wonderland (Aug. 14) — the next chapter for the charming characters of Mattel’s Ever After High franchise.

‘Mr. Peabody and Sherman’ Series Coming to Netflix
Aug 6th, 2015

A slick new 2D take on Jay Ward’s classic characters is arriving this fall, as Netflix is set to debut The New Mr. Peabody and Sherman Show from DreamWorks Animation Television on October 9, Variety reports. The series, aimed at kids 8-12 is part of the companies’ multiyear deal, which will funnel over 300 hours of content into the streaming giant’s catalog.

The New Mr. Peabody and Sherman Show (13 x half-hour) is based on the 1960s shorts interwoven with elements of DWA’s CG movie, and will recast the hyper brainy dog and his slightly less clever boy as the hosts of a latenight comedy show filmed in their cosmopolitan Manhattan penthouse in front of a live audience. Using the WABAC machine, Mr. Peabody (voiced by Chris Parnell) and Sherman (Max Charles) will present historical guests like Mozart, Napoleon and Edgar Allan Poe and embark on new time-travelling adventures.

“The love I have for Jay Ward and his creations, and his comedic tone, have been an inspiration for me ever since I was a kid,” executive producer Dave Smith told Variety. “We loved the straight-up lampooning of historical figures … We mixed it up a lot, while retaining the comedy of the Jay Ward show.” Smith previously directed Cartoon Network’s The Powerpuff Girls: Dance Pantsed, Steven Universe, The Amazing World of Gumball and Dexter’s Laboratory.

DHX Media in Vancouver is producing the animation for the series in collaboration with DWA.

Wait, I saw Left Behind on there already. Did they make two of those?

According to the link, this is the 2014 film with Nicolas Cage.

And it’s there. I think the source is wrong.

If you click the movie on the Netflix website, that’s the version it takes you to. It can’t already be there if it’s a new release for September. Perhaps they and/or you meant a 2000’s film.

It's there

Well now that does make it confusing. I don’t know what to make of it.
