Noir

I have to agree with Dragoon on that one. Noir is one of the few Bee Train series I’ve actually enjoyed the whole way through. The animation may be a bit dated by todays standards, but the character designs and artwork are still top notch.

And why did I not include this in my favorite dubs list? face palms

This anime is great I implore anyone who is even remotely interested in this anime from at least watching the first episode or two to buy it … for me it never gets old… I have seen it about 3 times… you wont be disappointed!

The big draw with me to Noir is the music. I love the soundtrack. That plus a great story makes it an anime more then worth watching.

Ah…I’m glad it’s so well liked. I’ll be sure to tell you my opinion on the show when I watch it.

Shawnmerrow: I know what you mean! Yuki Kajiura music is truly amazing. She’s a great composer.

Watched the first disc. LOVE the music, it really grabbed me. The animation is dated, which I don’t have a problem with. There was one instance where, during a driving scene, the animation was obviously recycled - the seam was horrible, which gave a moment of “WTF REALLY?!” But for the most part I’m enjoying this.

Kirika reminds me of Madlax.

oh wow, you saw Madlx first?

[details=spoiler]I think you could almost call the series kissing cousins. Same creator only a few years apart. If you ever see Requium of the Phantom, you will see another character (Phantom) that is like Kirika as well. =) Madlax is the one I need to really finish, I never saw but a couple episodes of it.[/details] been a while since I saw Noir,I recall it having pretty good animation in the day. However, I do think even then most animation had difficulties with driving sequences. (probably why they have all gone to CG for cars)

I’m almost done with Madlax like 2 or 3 episodes to go. But I gave the first episode of this a watch and it INSTANTLY grabbed me! Now this, this I LIKE a lot! Already I feel this is much more for me then Madlax. I’m tempted to rate it a 9/10, based on the first episode alone. This is up there with ** El Cazador**. It will be hard to pick a favorite from those two, unless this goes downhill real fast, which i doubt. I think Madlax is my least favorite, even though I enjoy it it’s just not as good. That one episode I saw not too long ago was PERFECT, but God it’s overly complicated, too complex for its own good, and just takes too long with everything where it clearly doesn’t have to. I like it a lot, but even if the ending blows me away I think El Cazador is much better, and I’m already on the Noir side of the fence here…

See?
We didn’t lie about this show.

For me, I like Madlax the best, but that’s pretty much because of the soundtrack. It’s the best out of the three to me.

In order of fave:

Noir
Madlax
El Cazador

I thought Noir had the better, tighter story.

I can’t comment on Madlax yet, but I much prefer Noir over El Cazador. I have to agree with the tighter story line. I know the slow, intentional pace of the show put some people off, but I loved it!

For me El Cazador is my favorite.

  1. El Cazador
  2. Noir
  3. Madlax

With everyone picking a favorite, but no one really disliking any of these simi-sorta gun-toting trilogy, it reminds me of a conversation I had about the “The Man With No Name” Spaghetti Western trilogy with Clint Eastwood.

Anyhow Can not comment on El Cazador. It seems like I am missing the A Few Dollars More part of the trilogy.

Talking about Westerns…El Cazador is a western! And it’s a very well made one too!

The Noir Complete Collection DVD (Hyb) (Thinpak) is continuing for another week in the Right Stuf Specials. You can’t go wrong getting this show for only $30! Think about it this way. Each original single cost that much, and you can get the entire series for the same amount! It’s worth every penny!

does the thinpack come with the decoder glasses and insert/booklets with cast/director/designer interviews, and goofy little sketches?

I paid $20.something for my singles…so :stuck_out_tongue:

No the thin packs don’t have those, but they do include all the hidden Easter eggs on the discs.

Check the Spoiler for a how to get to each one

Usually those other extras are reserved for those who buy the original singles. You pay a bit more, so you should get something a little extra!

Aww…those were the days. Cool shades, mini posters, stickers, pencil boards, candy, panties, reversible covers, figures, mini-episodes, cast interview, art boxes, pocky,…WHY, OH WHY HAVE U FORSAKEN ME…(breaks down crying)

Sad the days of the Collector in North America is pretty much gone got a few strays from Media Blasters and while the shift to mainstream got us more titles it also in my opinion help put the industry where it is now. The shift to mainstream lead to the push for cheaper releases since the mainstream crowd did not want to pay. I am one of the few that did not mind paying the higher prices as long as it meant less crap and more quality was getting licensed. Now its pretty much become about “What can we get cheap , stick a cheap assembly line dub on, and sell to these people that probably won’t be buying Anime in a few years time?”. Also not a fan of the newer generations coming in as they for a lack of a better phrase seem rather brain damagingly dense about everything that as happened and why dubs can’t be made for everything.

Anyway while I do miss all the little swag items at times what I really miss is all the great art the singles would bring. Now we are lucky to get one or two good pieces in a release. I have a lot of great releases to look at ,but at the same time it makes me sad I won’t see anymore of their like.
