Wait… Alligators eating each other isn’t common in other states?

Alligators are cannibals, they will eat smaller examples of their species when the circumstances allow. You probably wouldn’t see this be reported much in other states, either there are not enough Alligators or there aren’t people to witness. Florida has Alligators & People so it gets witnessed more.

I’ve watched Turtles drown Alligators in the retention pond behind our house. They clamp on and pull the Alligator under. Turtles can stay down below the water’s surface significantly longer than Alligators.

Nature is full of surprises.

On my side of the planet I’ve only seen alligators at the zoo.
