This Magic Club can do a lot more than card tricks!

Exactly one year ago, aliens invaded Earth. But it wasn’t the kind of invasion you’d expect. After descending from space and destroying any opposition, the giant spaceship known as The Bell just… sat there. For a year it’s been floating silently over the ocean, quietly observing how Earthlings live. Everyone’s pretty much used to it by now.

Everyone, that is, except the Magic User’s Club. They’re a small band of misfits who can do actual, honest-to-goodness magic! Their leader, Takeo, doesn’t trust the aliens to stay peaceful. He wants to fight the alien menace, but it’ll be a tough task when his club consists of a perverted president, a flamboyant VP, a flaky princess, a bumbling new recruit, and her temperamental best friend! Can this motley crew pull it together and save the world?

More Misadventures with the Magic User’s Club!

The Magic User’s Club is a group of five well-meaning misfits who do more than card tricks – they can use actual magic. And with that magic, they managed to defeat a giant ship from outer space! But their close encounter left an enormous cherry blossom tree right in the middle of the city. It’s so big that it blocks out the sun!

Takeo Takakura, the club’s noble (but perverted) president, calls a special Sunday meeting to take care of the tree. It seems simple enough, but when magic is involved, nothing ever goes according to plan… What’s more, there’s a ghostly figure hidden among the branches, watching their every move. Who is this silent specter, and what does he want?

Then one day, Hotaru is escorted away in a fancy black car, apparently scouted by a school in Tokyo called “Alice Academy.” Crushed at the loss of her favorite pal, Mikan scurries after her, determined to enroll, too!

But Alice Academy is a mysterious place. Can Mikan tough it out in a school where explosions, superpowers, giant baby chicks and axe-wielding teddy bears are the norm? Though it’s not as if she has a choice, because once students enter Alice Academy, there is no escape!

Hello all, happy Tuesday! Now that the Magic User’s Club street dates are set, I thought it’d be a good time to go over what’s new in our version of the release.

For starters, both the OVA and the TV series include both Japanese and English audio. Also, we received the original video materials from Japan, which means this new release will have:

-No hardsubs!
-No overlays!

Personally, I’m a big fan of insert songs - I don’t like to see them go untranslated. So all of the insert songs now have lyrics included (even the really obscure ones, like Takakura’s song from TV episode 5. Man, that one was hard to dig up!)

And of course, each set has original Japanese extras! On the OVA set, there’s a Behind the Scenes segment with the animators at Studio Triangle. And the TV set includes an actual, real-life recreation of that goofy student film from TV episode 8. (You know, the one with the railroad tracks and the tomato?) This is on top of the usual goodies like Japanese commercials and clean openings/endings.

So all in all, a lot was poured into this release! I hope it brings a little magic into your life. smile emoticon

Nozomi Entertainment Do you think it would be possible for you guys to get the rights to re-release the complete Beast King Golion and Armored Fleet Dairugger XV on DVD? Mainly since both series are now out of print. Also I would like to see you guys properly remaster both series, or at least Golion. As the original release didn’t quite look as good as it could have. I figured since you guys did such an amazing job with Mobile Suit Gundam you could give it the same treatment.

Thanks for the complements! Unfortunately, the U.S. rights to those particular series are currently owned by other parties. Perhaps they will decide to re-release them. There’s always hope! - Kris
