FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Maiden Japan is Working Hard with the Acquisition of ‘Hataraki Man’

Hataraki Man, Studio Gallop’s story about finding the balance between work and life was announced today as Maiden Japan’s latest acquisition. Based on the hit manga by artist and fashion designer Moyoco Anno (Sugar Sugar Rune, Sakuran), the slice of life story of a young woman struggling to find a place in the publishing industry is immediately relatable to anyone that has ever made sacrifices in order to get ahead at their job. A compelling drama lightened with comedy elements and seasoned with romance, Hataraki Man presents a rare, frank, and engaging “from the trenches” viewpoint on the changing role of women in the Japanese workplace.

Hataraki Man follows the life of 28-year-old Hiroko Matsukata, a straight-forward young woman who has sacrificed most of her personal life in order to rise in the male-dominated publishing industry. As a result of her dedication and work ethic, her fellow employees have given her the nickname “Hataraki Man,” which means working man. Despite her success to date, however, Hiroko is becoming aware that she wants more than just work in her life. Unfortunately, her sometimes boyfriend is an even bigger workaholic than she is and has even more to prove at his job!

Produced by Studio Gallop (Yu-Gi-Oh, Initial D, Eyeshield 21) and directed by Katsumi Ono (Yu-Gi-Oh! 5DS, Yu—Gi-Oh! Arc V, Symphogear), Hataraki Man was originally broadcasted as part of Fuji TV’s prestigious noitaminA animation block. The 11-episode series will initially be made available for streaming on selected media outlets.

Information on other release formats will follow.
