Home video distributor Section23 Films today announced its November 2009 slate of new DVD releases

Section23 client Sentai Filmworks is coming out with six new home video releases, including five anime series never before available on DVD in North America. These new series are Blue Drop, Polyphonica, Special A, Tears to Tiara, and You’re Under Arrest Season 2. Sentai Filmworks is also releasing the second collection of the anime series Little Snow Fairy Sugar in November. Switchblade Pictures, another Section23 client, has two “live-action” DVD releases straight from Japan – the sci-fi horror collection Ki-Gai, and the sci-fi thriller Nu-Meri ~ Book of the New Spawn.

Did some digging and Tears to Tiara looks like a good title.

If you’ve seen Utawarerumono, you’ll like it. A lot of us in this forum loved it… so very much looking forward to it.

Having said that though, Utawarerumono had a fabulous dub, by who is dubbed as the “King of Casting” Don Rush (Full Metal Panic series, Azumanga, UFO Ultramaiden, Coyote Ragtime). It was his final work for ADV before he moved out of town when he left the industry. So it’s a little sad that that amazing dub couldn’t be replicated in this case. But it’s for the best as Utawarerumono was one of those titles ADV sunk money into with too little niche buyers. Sub-only release is definitely the smart business decision with these titles.

Hey, more new titles, and a couple I want. I’m actually pretty pumped, and it’s made all the better considering the news yesterday. I will definitely grab Tears to Tiara and Polyphonica. And I will undoubtedly try Blue Drop and Special A.

I think a lot of people were shocked they got Special, since it was a Gonzo title (or at least animated by them.)

And in case anyone is interested, Switchblade’s website is already updated with info and cover art for the “J-Horror” titles. Though at least Nu-Meri seems to fall more into the “Pink Cinema” category.
