Space Brothers / Uchū Kyōdai

As of right now, yeah.
But I guess that would depend on how many seasons Phi Brain gets and whether they decide to stop dubbing it or not.

As of right now, Phi Brain has (or will have when S3 is done) 75 episodes.
Space Brothers has 88 currently and still going.

Wait, if ADV = Voltron, wouldn’t that be the same for Funi.

At least Sentai/Maiden Japan, etc. is the cooler Voltron whether that be the lions or vehicles. Funi would be the lame three robot deal that never saw the light of day here, except for the one Matchbox figures.

I don’t know if it is the same for Funi. I just remembered the quote from years ago that Funi’s Adam Sheehan used to describe the demise of ADV:

From Wikipedia.

Though I think that there’s a need for a “catchall” term for all the post-adv companies. Aesir,Section23,Happy Carrot, Maiden Japan, Sentai Filmworks…there are just too many lol.

Please tell me that art isn’t indicative of the movie’s. Judging by this pic it would seem that the Space Bros mangaka has something in common with the Titan mangaka.

Hard to say, promo art can be both.
It doesn’t look like the promo that was posted though.

Q. Any updates on Space Brothers?

A. we still have it.

Q. Do you have any current plans to release Space Brothers and are you considering dubbing it?

A. We do plan to release it.

Nice to see that it still lives. It won’t take the place of Moonlight Mile S2 but it’ll have to do.

In the interim, if Sentai could save Planetes then that’d be sweet.

Q) Would you guys commit to releasing a show with lots of episodes?

A) Well, we have Space Bros.,so…

Q) when can we expect an update on that?

A) EXTREMELY SOON.

Looking back, it has been 2.5 years since this series got rolling and we have scarcely gotten so many updates from Sentai about it.

IMO, the questions of dubbing and physical release layout (that’d be a lot of 13 ep releases) are the most important. Hopefully they’ll be answered some day.

except for the lack of a dub, the art looks good IMO.

edit: on the front cover, is the black backdrop actually there? I was thinking it was a mobile viewing glitch but if it is there then I’m kinda leery.

It is.
More specifically it’s a backdrop of stars.
And going by the prelim cover of Collection 02 both the Moon and Earth chunks at the top and bottom are going to be spread across all collections to make a bigger picture when they’re placed numerically side by side.
As with probably the spine as well, looks like they’re going for a bigger picture when they’re shelved spine out

I’m thinking it would have been better if they’d shown the complete arc of the Earth or if they’d extended the “blackness of space” across in a uniform arc. As it stands, it looks like the Earth and Space are jigsaw puzzle pieces crammed together IMO.
