Summer Time Rendering
(Another one I’ll never see.)
I’ve compiled a list of all the series that LiveChart has listed as “We aren’t aware of any official ways to watch this title.” Titles that say “formerly Crunchyroll” or “formerly Funimation” indicate series where previous seasons were carried by the service named. This list is up to date as of 3/21. It will be interesting to see how many of these remainders get snapped up in the next ten days. (List edited to reflect Sentai and Crunchyroll’s 3/29 announcements.)
AMAIM Warrior at the Borderline Part 2 (formerly Funimation)
BIRDIE WING -Golf Girls’ Story-
The Company Slave Wants to Be Healed by a Little Ghost Girl
Deaimon
Duel Masters King MAX
high school girl & the magic notebook
Kingdom 4th Season (formerly Funimation)
RPG Real Estate
Shin Ikki Tousen (formerly Funimation)
To Become a Real Heroine! The Unpopular Girl and the Secret Task
There’s still some interesting series up for grabs!
So I usually Pick around 7 shows to watch so here’s the plan for Spring:
Bookworm S3
Date A Live IV
Spy x Family
Rising of the Shield Hero S2
Shikimori
Kaguya-Sama
Demon Girl Next Door S2
I’m Quitting Heroing
Komi S2
and GitS: SAC 2045 (forgot the 2 Netflix Series)
(Last Space is reserved for you know what if Crunchyroll licenses it)
The problem being CR still has 16 TBA’s and there are 16 titles listed, even if per se Sentai got one more (a possibility) the extra TBA could be taken by Yamato: 2205 but we shall see
In the last few seasons, I’ve noticed that Crunchyroll doesn’t use all of their TBA slots. I think they just throw a bunch on there to keep people guessing.
I never trust the TBA slots. The number seems random. I think when I paid attention to them, there have been times a new show is added, but a TBA wasn’t taken, like whoever counted the TBA shows missing that one. And if there are extras when they add a new bunch of shows, whoever added the shows might have forgotten to remove TBA slots. If anything, they should just have one TBA slot, and when they feel they have all the shows they know they’re getting for the seasons (In other words, they know the contract won’t have a chance to fall apart before they finish signing stuff) during an update, remove it.
So it looks like Sonyroll is acting like the 50cc Old Lady* during Golden Week sales, snapping up virtually all the remaining unlicensed series. How can they give proper attention to so many series is beyond me.
They won’t be able to give proper attention to 40-some series. Yes, they’ll get subtitles, and yes we can watch them (as long as you have a premium account, that is…), but I’m very very doubtful that we’ll be getting the home video versions of many (if not all…) of these series uploaded to CR. Just looking at what’s been uploaded to them so far from Funi’s catalogue, about 1/3rd of the series are the simulcast version. Now, I’m not just saying ecchi fanservice. Action shows have the screen dimmed during bright light attacks, and shows that have redrawn scenes for HV are missing…
And please don’t get me started on whether or not a specific show will be released physically…
