Spring 2026 Anime

The Spring 2026 Anime season is a month away, and there are lots of interesting new shows coming out!

To try to keep my thoughts organized I’ll separate this post into sections.

High School

It might be now or never for The Angel Next Door Spoils Me Rotten to get dubbed. This series is already a proven big hit with its first season, so Crunchyroll really doesn’t have any excuses to not dub it. I really don’t care if they dub the second season first or start with the first season, starting with season one would be better, but I can wait until later for the first season if dubbing season 2 first is what it would take to get the show dubbed.

This is a season that is stacked with High School anime and not as much Shoujo and Isekai as usual so the dubs should reflect that. Choosing which High School anime to dub and which ones to not dub is so difficult, and really depends on how many Crunchyroll are wiling to dub in one season. Aside from The Angel Next Door Spoils Me Rotten, the next most obvious dub for the School anime is I Made Friends With the Second Prettiest Girl in Class. Though Kanan-sama is Ridiculously Easy, I Want to End This Love Game, and Gal Can’t Be Kind to Otaku are all really popular and should obviously be dubbed as well.

The problem is, Crunchyroll doesn’t seem to like High School anime, especially High School Shonen (as seen by the fact they didn’t dub a bunch of popular ones like Can a Boy-Girl Friendship Survive, I’m Getting Married to a Girl I Hate in My Class, Days with My Stepsister, My Stepmom’s Daughter Is My Ex, Please Put Them On Takamine-san, etc), and almost all the High School anime this season are Shonen. Will they really be willing to dub five or move High School Shonen in a single season? If not, choosing which of these five shows to not dub is incredibly difficult and even one or two of them not getting dubbed would be depressing. Considering this is the weakest season for new Isekai in awhile I don’t see any argument against dubbing all five of the most popular High School anime.

It really sucks for dub fans that Anime companies (the Japanese ones who actually make the anime, not American companies) don’t care at all what gets dubbed and so shows like Even a Replica Can Fall in Love get added to a season that is already the most stacked for High School shows in years. I basically gave up hope on that show getting dubbed when I saw it announced for Spring. Meanwhile Summer 2026 has 30+ shows announced and only one of them is a High School show (I Became The Caretaker of a Rich Girl). The Japanese companies could help dub fans out massively by delaying shows in a genre that already has a stacked season to seasons that are weaker for the genre, but of course they speak Japanese so why would they care what gets dubbed?

OceanVeil licensed Marika’s Love Meter Malfunction, hopefully they dub it, but I’m not sure they will. They seem to prefer dubbing Hentai instead of the Ecchi anime they license, which makes me, a big Ecchi fan who hates Hentai, sad.

Isekai and Fantasy

Witch Hat Atelier will clearly be dubbed and should be one of the biggest hits of the year. Aside from that, Isekai and Fantasy are really weak this season with no obvious other hits among the new anime. The Barbarian’s Bride appears near the top of the season’s popularity rankings on sites like Anilist, but I think that’s largely because it was supposed to air in Fall and got delayed. I suspect it will likely fall once the shows start airing. I Became a Legend After My 10 Year-Long Last Stand and The Classroom of the Black Cat and Witch seem like the most obvious other Isekai and/or Fantasy shows to dub this season. Though Always a Catch! and Observation Records of My Fiance could make sense to dub as well (or instead) due to the lack of other Shoujo.

Other Genres

I wasn’t impressed by the trailer but Snowball Earth is important to dub as its the only brand new Mecha anime coming out in 2026 and would help massively with variety.

At least one of Kanan-sama and Yowa Yowa Sensei should get dubbed for the same reason since their the only new Ecchi anime and in their cases, both are popular.

Killed Again, Mr. Detective looks like a fun Mystery/Detective show and we don’t get enough of them dubbed.

Ghost Concert; missing Songs seems like an interesting mix of Music and Horror but has little chance of being dubbed.

Ichijouma Mankitsu Gurashi looks like a show I’d really like but unfortunately is licensed by REMOW and its lack of an English name will probably kill its dub chances, though an all-girls Slice of Life like that, especially with fanservice, was unlikely to get dubbed anyway (sadly for me).

Akane-banashi should be dubbed given it’s popularity but given that it’s a geniune Slice of Life anime (and not a Romance or High School show that people who don’t know what SoL actually is call SoL), I’ll be a bit skeptical of it getting dubbed until I see it announced.

Crunchyroll seem to be promoting Drops of God quite a bit so I’m expecting them to dub it, though as a Catholic I definitely have reservations of watching any anime (or any entertainment in general) with God in the title.

Liar Game is REMOW’s big license of the season and probably year, so it’d be a bit shocking if they didn’t dub it, but given that they didn’t dub other hits like Chitose in the Ramune Bottle and There’s No Way I’ll be Your Lover…Unless, they might not dub this one either. I’ve been extremely disappointed with REMOW as the shows they don’t dub have been the ones I wanted to watch.

I don’t know what genre NEEDY GIRL OVERDOSE is but it looks awesome so please Aniplex, actually dub something I want to watch for once.

Agents of the Four Seasons is probably the Shoujo I would dub, along with one of the Isekai ones, but it doesn’t do much for me since I don’t like Shoujo except for some High School ones.

Why Sing When You Can Warble is hard to get a read on, I do like Slice of Life but this one seems like it won’t be popular enough to justifying dubbing in a season this stacked. I still wouldn’t mind giving it a chance if it is dubbed, but I’ll be mad if they dub this over Gal Can’t Be Kind to Otaku or something.

I don’t care if Eren the Southpaw is dubbed or not. I don’t like Eren’s character design, and she seems to be quite violent from the trailer as well. I don’t like violent girls. Fighting in Shounen, Magical Girl, or Magic based anime doesn’t bother me since its over the top, cartoon violence and they usually use magic rather than fists. Watching girls get into fist fights isn’t something I want to do. I like Drama anime and there aren’t enough of them, and the story seems kind of interesting, but I prefer Warble over this one.

Ace of Diamond, unfortunately is just way too many episodes and not popular enough to dub.

Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood is one of the most boring anime I ever watched. Hopefully that statement doesn’t derail the thread, but I feel I should say that so people will get why I have no interest in Daemons of the Shadow Realm. It’ll certainly get dubbed but unless I see fanservice from it or something I can’t see myself watching it.

We all watch anime for different reasons. I watch anime for three reasons.

  • To see cute anime girls
  • To see cute anime girl’s butts
  • For the high school setting

For me to like an anime it pretty much needs at least one of those things. Fullmetal Alchemist doesn’t have any cute girls, cute girl’s butts or high school setting. So yeah, doesn’t appeal to me and I expect Daemons of the Shadow Realm to be the same.

Anyway…

Shows I hope get dubbed

  1. The Angel Next Door Spoils Me Rotten
  2. I Made Friends With the Second Prettiest Girl in Class
  3. NEEDY GIRL OVERDOSE
  4. Kanan-sama is Ridiculously Easy
  5. Even a Replica Can Fall in Love
  6. Gal Can’t Be Kind to Otaku?
  7. Yowa Yowa Sensei
  8. I Want to End This Love Game
  9. Marika’s Love Meter Malfunction
  10. Killed Again, Mr. Detective?

And more but I’ll end it there since that’s a lot, I expect to be disappointed but hopefully at least the popular ones get dubbed this time.

All I can say at this point is an emphatic fuck you too, Crunchyroll. The last six months have been so dreadful, the worst time to be an anime fan for me ever. Fall 2025 was stacked with high school anime and Crunchyroll dubbed literally zero of them. Then Winter 2026 was the least interesting season ever, and Crunchyroll chose that season to dub bunch of high school shows but of course half of them were Shoujo and they all sucked.

Now Spring 2026 is the most stacked season of the 2020s, and Crunchyroll are dubbing tons of anime, but their somehow only dubbing two of the fifteen I wanted to watch, and none of the main ones I was super interested in. Granted they didn’t license every anime I thought looked interesting, but they got most of them. Here I was finally having hope that things would turn around for me, since I’ve been more depressed than ever this past year and anime is the only thing that makes me happy at all. Nope, time to sink even lower.

What excuse does Crunchyroll have for not dubbing The Angel Next Door Spoils Me Rotten? Literally none. What excuse do they have for not dubbing I Made Friends With The Second Prettiest Girl in Class? Of course, none, there is no excuse. They dub significantly less popular shows than these ones all the time, including this season. As I predicted their dubbing Drops of God, which is one of the least anticipated shows of the season, but one of the most anticipated shows, I Made Friends With the Second Prettiest Girl in Class can’t get dubbed.

The Angel Next Door Spoils Me Rotten is a proven big hit, one of the most popular anime of the year in 2023 but it’s High School Shonen with attractive female characters, so it can’t get dubbed. Out of all the big High School shows this season I knew I Want to End This Love Game was the one with the best chance of getting dubbed, because the girl isn’t as attractive as the ones from Second Prettiest Girl in Class, Angel Next Door, and Gal Can’t Be Kind to Otaku. But of course, gay trash like Go For It Nakamura-kun has to be dubbed because Crunchyroll are blatantly woke.

A billion Shoujo dubs yet again for the millionth straight season. Did I miss something because females are a very small percentage of anime fans, likely less than 10% so why do they get almost every show they want dubbed but male fans get a middle finger instead. Where is Classroom of a Black Cat and a Witch? There is almost no new Isekai or Fantasy getting dubbed and that one still gets skipped? Of course it does, look at the character designs, there is tons of hot girls in that show. Why would Crunchyroll dub it? They hate attractive female characters. Yet another generic Villainess show had to be dubbed instead.

Speaking of hot girls, where is NEEDY GIRL OVERDOSE? Aniplex is useless again, they dub every show with exclusively male casts but you get a show with nothing but females and they will never dub it. REMOW are predictably dubbing Liar Game but not Ichijouma Mankitsu Gurashi, because nothing with cute girls can get dubbed in the 2020s. At least Liar Game is popular, but it really feels like nothing ever goes my way, even when the shows I want to watch are really popular, their still subtitle only over and over again.

Why do literally almost zero big name Shonen High School anime get dubbed anymore? Especially ones with cute girls! This is the worst time ever to be a dub fan, by far, and I lived through the NIS America days where popular shows would get licensed and have zero chance of being dubbed being NIS didn’t do dubs. This is worse, because NIS rarely got the most important shows. Crunchyroll on the other hand, gets almost all of them, and they never dub any of them.

  • My Stepmom’s Daughter is My Ex
  • The Angel Next Door Spoils Me Rotten
  • Days with My Stepsister
  • Psuedo Harem
  • I’m Getting Married to a Girl I Hate in My Class
  • Can A Boy-Girl Friendship-Survive?
  • Please Put Them On, Takamine-san
  • I Made Friends With the Second Prettiest Girl in Class
  • Gal Can’t Be Kind to Otaku?

That is nearly every popular High School Shonen of the last few years, and those are all sub-only by Crunchyroll. Sure they dubbed a few High School Shonen in that time but it was nearly always the ones with the least attractive girls. It doesn’t help that REMOW didn’t dub Chitose in the Ramune Bottle or There’s No Way I’ll Be Your Lover…Unless despite the fact that they’ve dubbed literally every other show they licensed that made sense to dub, the two high school ones with hot girls are the only sub-only ones.

What am I supposed to do? Am I supposed to just be happy that yet again, we have another anime season where the most popular sub-only anime BY FAR are the ones I wanted to be dubbed the most. That’s Winter 2025, Spring 2025, and Spring 2026 where the most popular anime that weren’t dubbed were the only anime I really cared about - I’m Getting Married to a Girl I Hate in My Class, Can a Boy-Girl Friendship Survive, Please Put Them on Takamine-san, and now The Angel Next Door Spoils Me Rotten and I Made Friends with the Second Prettiest Girl in Class.

Plus maybe Summer 2024 and Summer 2025 but I can’t remember if there was anything more popular than Psuedo Harem and Days With My Stepsister that wasn’t dubbed in 2024 (I don’t think there was) and I can’t remember if there was anything more popular than There’s No Way I’ll Be Your Lover….Unless that wasn’t dubbed in Summer 2025. Even if there was one or two shows those seasons, it’s basically every season for nearly two years that I haven’t watched the shows I’ve wanted to watch the most, because they didn’t get dubbed despite being the most popular sub only shows of their seasons. That is extremely unfair for this to keep happening to the same group of people, no matter how you look at it.

At this rate, I will never be happy or even content again. I will always be extremely depressed if it keeps up like this. Crunchyroll had the ability to finally make me happy, but they, as always, choose to appeal to an extremely small minority of fans instead of dubbing the most popular shows. I AM NOT ASKING FOR THEM TO DO ANYTHING CRAZY OR LOSE MONEY. This in caps because all I want them to do is the most logical thing and the thing that makes the most business sense and money, dub the most popular shows! That’s it! They know The Angel Next Door Spoils Me Rotten is one of the most popular shows. On Livechart, The Angel Next Door Spoils Me Rotten is THE most popular show of the season.

To make matters worse, Spring 2026 looked like my only shot to have any reason to be happy in the near future. Summer 2026 already has forty shows confirmed and there’s only one high school show that isn’t gay. Maybe Fall season might not be terrible since barely anything’s set for it yet, but that won’t even START for another six months. So we’re talking yet another six months of basically guaranteed extreme depression. All because Crunchyroll is woke and wants straight males to be miserable. I will not watch Daemons of the Shadow Realm, I will not watch Witch Hat Atelier. I will not watch Observation Villainess trash. It goes without saying I will not watch Nakamura-kun. I will not watch Warrior Princess. I will almost certainly not watch Agents of the Four Seasons.

I am so beyond tired of this Isekai and Fantasy trash and Shoujo being shoved down my throat as the only options. It’s basically watch them or nothing for a dub fan now, and with those as my options I will sadly choose nothing. Snowball Earth, not dubbed. There goes any hope of a Mecha getting dubbed this year. If your going to dub something unpopular, why choose Drops of God, which has very little appeal, instead of Snowball Earth which at least appeals to Mecha fans who it feels like haven’t gotten a single show dubbed in years.

Some dub fans will say stuff like, don’t worry because Crunchyroll are doing backlog dubs so the shows you want still have a chance! That’s either a straight up lie or woefully ill-informed. Crunchyroll have done almost exclusively backlog dubs of Isekai anime. The one straight Romance they backlog dubbed was Yakuza Fiancee in the last two years or more. There is zero expectation that they will backlog dub any High School Shonen or Shonen Romance.

Psuedo Harem has had an English OP song for like half a year or more and it still hasn’t been dubbed. They do not care about us, or actively despise us. Watch they’ll probably backlog dub Skip and Loafer though when the second season comes out, because fuck straight males right? We deserve nothing because we’re such awful people according to the woke liberals. What kind of business can say fuck you to the biggest audience (straight males) repeatedly and still be fine financially? Only a monopoly, and that’s why we, straight male dub fans are completely screwed.

You couldn’t of planned a worse dub lineup for the season if you tried. I will likely be watching nothing for yet another three months unless Aniplex, Sentai or Ocean Veil announce dubs for NEEDY GIRL OVERDOSE, Yowayowa Sensei, and/or Marika’s Love Meter Malfunction. Ocean Veil usually announces licenses and dubs at the same time though, and they mostly just like Hentai so it’s doubtful Marika gets one. Even if Sentai does dub Yowayowa Sensei it likely won’t be for months given their usual schedule. If you can’t tell, I’m utterly miserable. Sub-fans will be watching everything they want, Shoujo fans will be watching practically every Shoujo dubbed and meanwhile I’ll be watching nothing. I wouldn’t wish being a dub fan in the 2020s on anyone.
