The Spring 2026 Anime season is a month away, and there are lots of interesting new shows coming out!
To try to keep my thoughts organized I’ll separate this post into sections.
High School
It might be now or never for The Angel Next Door Spoils Me Rotten to get dubbed. This series is already a proven big hit with its first season, so Crunchyroll really doesn’t have any excuses to not dub it. I really don’t care if they dub the second season first or start with the first season, starting with season one would be better, but I can wait until later for the first season if dubbing season 2 first is what it would take to get the show dubbed.
This is a season that is stacked with High School anime and not as much Shoujo and Isekai as usual so the dubs should reflect that. Choosing which High School anime to dub and which ones to not dub is so difficult, and really depends on how many Crunchyroll are wiling to dub in one season. Aside from The Angel Next Door Spoils Me Rotten, the next most obvious dub for the School anime is I Made Friends With the Second Prettiest Girl in Class. Though Kanan-sama is Ridiculously Easy, I Want to End This Love Game, and Gal Can’t Be Kind to Otaku are all really popular and should obviously be dubbed as well.
The problem is, Crunchyroll doesn’t seem to like High School anime, especially High School Shonen (as seen by the fact they didn’t dub a bunch of popular ones like Can a Boy-Girl Friendship Survive, I’m Getting Married to a Girl I Hate in My Class, Days with My Stepsister, My Stepmom’s Daughter Is My Ex, Please Put Them On Takamine-san, etc), and almost all the High School anime this season are Shonen. Will they really be willing to dub five or move High School Shonen in a single season? If not, choosing which of these five shows to not dub is incredibly difficult and even one or two of them not getting dubbed would be depressing. Considering this is the weakest season for new Isekai in awhile I don’t see any argument against dubbing all five of the most popular High School anime.
It really sucks for dub fans that Anime companies (the Japanese ones who actually make the anime, not American companies) don’t care at all what gets dubbed and so shows like Even a Replica Can Fall in Love get added to a season that is already the most stacked for High School shows in years. I basically gave up hope on that show getting dubbed when I saw it announced for Spring. Meanwhile Summer 2026 has 30+ shows announced and only one of them is a High School show (I Became The Caretaker of a Rich Girl). The Japanese companies could help dub fans out massively by delaying shows in a genre that already has a stacked season to seasons that are weaker for the genre, but of course they speak Japanese so why would they care what gets dubbed?
OceanVeil licensed Marika’s Love Meter Malfunction, hopefully they dub it, but I’m not sure they will. They seem to prefer dubbing Hentai instead of the Ecchi anime they license, which makes me, a big Ecchi fan who hates Hentai, sad.
Isekai and Fantasy
Witch Hat Atelier will clearly be dubbed and should be one of the biggest hits of the year. Aside from that, Isekai and Fantasy are really weak this season with no obvious other hits among the new anime. The Barbarian’s Bride appears near the top of the season’s popularity rankings on sites like Anilist, but I think that’s largely because it was supposed to air in Fall and got delayed. I suspect it will likely fall once the shows start airing. I Became a Legend After My 10 Year-Long Last Stand and The Classroom of the Black Cat and Witch seem like the most obvious other Isekai and/or Fantasy shows to dub this season. Though Always a Catch! and Observation Records of My Fiance could make sense to dub as well (or instead) due to the lack of other Shoujo.
Other Genres
I wasn’t impressed by the trailer but Snowball Earth is important to dub as its the only brand new Mecha anime coming out in 2026 and would help massively with variety.
At least one of Kanan-sama and Yowa Yowa Sensei should get dubbed for the same reason since their the only new Ecchi anime and in their cases, both are popular.
Killed Again, Mr. Detective looks like a fun Mystery/Detective show and we don’t get enough of them dubbed.
Ghost Concert; missing Songs seems like an interesting mix of Music and Horror but has little chance of being dubbed.
Ichijouma Mankitsu Gurashi looks like a show I’d really like but unfortunately is licensed by REMOW and its lack of an English name will probably kill its dub chances, though an all-girls Slice of Life like that, especially with fanservice, was unlikely to get dubbed anyway (sadly for me).
Akane-banashi should be dubbed given it’s popularity but given that it’s a geniune Slice of Life anime (and not a Romance or High School show that people who don’t know what SoL actually is call SoL), I’ll be a bit skeptical of it getting dubbed until I see it announced.
Crunchyroll seem to be promoting Drops of God quite a bit so I’m expecting them to dub it, though as a Catholic I definitely have reservations of watching any anime (or any entertainment in general) with God in the title.
Liar Game is REMOW’s big license of the season and probably year, so it’d be a bit shocking if they didn’t dub it, but given that they didn’t dub other hits like Chitose in the Ramune Bottle and There’s No Way I’ll be Your Lover…Unless, they might not dub this one either. I’ve been extremely disappointed with REMOW as the shows they don’t dub have been the ones I wanted to watch.
I don’t know what genre NEEDY GIRL OVERDOSE is but it looks awesome so please Aniplex, actually dub something I want to watch for once.
Agents of the Four Seasons is probably the Shoujo I would dub, along with one of the Isekai ones, but it doesn’t do much for me since I don’t like Shoujo except for some High School ones.
Why Sing When You Can Warble is hard to get a read on, I do like Slice of Life but this one seems like it won’t be popular enough to justifying dubbing in a season this stacked. I still wouldn’t mind giving it a chance if it is dubbed, but I’ll be mad if they dub this over Gal Can’t Be Kind to Otaku or something.
I don’t care if Eren the Southpaw is dubbed or not. I don’t like Eren’s character design, and she seems to be quite violent from the trailer as well. I don’t like violent girls. Fighting in Shounen, Magical Girl, or Magic based anime doesn’t bother me since its over the top, cartoon violence and they usually use magic rather than fists. Watching girls get into fist fights isn’t something I want to do. I like Drama anime and there aren’t enough of them, and the story seems kind of interesting, but I prefer Warble over this one.
Ace of Diamond, unfortunately is just way too many episodes and not popular enough to dub.
Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood is one of the most boring anime I ever watched. Hopefully that statement doesn’t derail the thread, but I feel I should say that so people will get why I have no interest in Daemons of the Shadow Realm. It’ll certainly get dubbed but unless I see fanservice from it or something I can’t see myself watching it.
We all watch anime for different reasons. I watch anime for three reasons.
- To see cute anime girls
- To see cute anime girl’s butts
- For the high school setting
For me to like an anime it pretty much needs at least one of those things. Fullmetal Alchemist doesn’t have any cute girls, cute girl’s butts or high school setting. So yeah, doesn’t appeal to me and I expect Daemons of the Shadow Realm to be the same.
Anyway…
Shows I hope get dubbed
- The Angel Next Door Spoils Me Rotten
- I Made Friends With the Second Prettiest Girl in Class
- NEEDY GIRL OVERDOSE
- Kanan-sama is Ridiculously Easy
- Even a Replica Can Fall in Love
- Gal Can’t Be Kind to Otaku?
- Yowa Yowa Sensei
- I Want to End This Love Game
- Marika’s Love Meter Malfunction
- Killed Again, Mr. Detective?
And more but I’ll end it there since that’s a lot, I expect to be disappointed but hopefully at least the popular ones get dubbed this time.
