Star Wars: The Last Jedi to Fall Short of Force Awakens at Box Office

Iām not surprised with Rotten Tomatoes but then again I wouldnāt consider them a reputable source for whether or not a movie is good. I saw the movie on Friday and I thought it was good. To be honest I think people paid way too much attention to fan theory going in with a certain mindset and had their expectations turned right around and kicked out the door. I thoroughly enjoyed the movie and wouldnāt mind going to see it again.

On one hand, this is the first movie that I could actually see in theaters in 4K (other films I saw were finished in 2K).
On the other hand, I could just wait for the bluray and watch it on a 4K HDR TV.
After the mehhh-diocre The Force Awakens, and hearing that Mark Hamill completely disagreed with how the Luke character is treated in this one, Iām sorely contemplating skipping this one in theaters.
Edit:
Adjusted for inflation though, it is currently at #11. It is beating Avatar though, thatās something.
Well I mean if you put it that way, all of the movies are mediocre in some respect but I like the story for what it is and enjoy seeing it on a giant screen in surround sound. Seeing it in 4K will definitely be a plus too in its own right.
For years now, the local theater here has been hyping its 4K projectors, but none of the films that Iāve seen have actually been shipped to the theater in 4K. Hollywood makes no sense sometimesā¦
Now that a 4K film up my alley finally comes to theaters, I have a 4K TV around that I could watch it on. Figures

Video about Rotten Tomatoes stuff
Weirdly, the fam was watching an episode of NCIS: Los Angeles (S09E10: Forasteria) and there was a an actor in it who really seemed like Billy Dee Williams, only younger. Apparently his name was Benny Nieves, but he seems like a contender for a younger Lando lol
Howād Hollywood forgive his bomb-tastic In the Heart of the Sea? āDirector Jailā is real, but some directors are above that law
Maybe we need a rule that only whoever made up the Force powers for films IV-VI gets complete creative control over any new Force powers?
I suspect that this āCinemaScoreā is bogus. The flipside of having curated results is that the curators can alter the stats to support any position; āLies, d-m lies, and statisticsā
One of my pals saw the movie earlier this week. Heās as unpolitical as one can be, an āeverymanā Star Wars fan, and he said the movie was on the disappointing side of meh. Wouldnāt rewatch it in theaters, even if I bought him a ticket. When an āeverymanā fan wouldnāt rewatch this film for free, Iām thinking the RT audience scores are legit and the CinemaScores are suspect.
I also saw the āPewdā review, and he made a case that the movie was very lacking on intrinsic merit.
So Iām almost certainly waiting for the bluray, or Discount Day at the theater.
Thing here is that my boys, all three of them very much āeverymanā or a little better Star Wars fans, none of them have shown any interest in seeing Last Jedi in the theater. Two of them went to the Rogue One film with my wife and they all enjoyed it. Something just isnāt right with this one or as a famous man said, " I have a bad feeling about this. "

mehā¦it was okay; 3 out of 5 star.
iāll wait for a Black Friday sale to get it.
But I can see why people hate it: you donāt āsubvertā a franchise in the middle of a series.
What would people say if Game of Thrones went āDungeon & Dragons (2000)ā for season 5.
Well played
I wonder why these individual directors have such creative control over the characters. IIRC the Marvel directors are tightly restrained in what changes they can make?
IMHO āmehā is the worst rating a movie can get.
I donāt understand how the executives at Lucasfilm / Disney could allow a script to be filmed that isnāt consistent with the previously established characters / films. The have to know better, so it must have been a deliberate decision. So the Critics like The Last Jedi and the fans are disappointed. It will make tons of money, but damage has been done.

Iām going to see it Monday. Hopefully I wonāt have to go all #NOTMYLUKESKYWALKER after Iām done seeing it lol
I think ā#NOTMYLUKESKYWALKERā may be the least of your worries.
only time will tellā¦
Thatās a nice conspiracy there LOL.
I have absolutely no problem with the way the movie turned out. I donāt understand some of the arguments that Iāve seen against things in the movie, in my opinion everything made sense.
