If Black Butler Book of Circus was indeed actually licensed from Aniplex JP, I’d say a new precedent has been set with this.
It also kinda makes one wonder if the settlement from ADV funded this (at least in part), as don’t see anyway this could have happened without a huge amount of money being tossed at AoJ.
That or AoJ only allows AoA to license a set amount of shows for over here (It seems to be set at 4 new per quarter with 1 or 2 carry overs) but agreed they probably wanted a hefty sum for it, and I personally don’t like the precedent it sets. It’s like FUNimation , to me, is making the same mistakes ADV made before going under. (Paying too much for licenses and going after whatever is popular price be damned).
The real question should be just how crippled the U.S. release is going to be?
Interesting. At least it gives us a greater guarantee of dub continuity down the road.
Funimation sure does seem to have gotten a lot of capital from somewhere semi-recently. Just from how much they’ve been doing, and for how long, I’m suspecting that the $ is more from Gen Fukunaga’s business maneuvers than from whatever they strong-armed out of ADV. If only they’d spend some of the money that they’re throwing at these ultra-high-profile simulcasts and simuldubs on solving their too-many QA problems.

Looks like [B]Invaders of the Rokujyoma!?[/B] and [B]Bladedance of Elementalers[/B] are both Showgate titles.
Sentai already announced 3 of the 4 listed, so there might be a chance that [B]Bladedance of Elementalers[/B] is a Sentai title as well, considering what Showgate titles they picked up last season, and that it’s streaming in Taiwan as well.
