The Football (& Other Sports) Thread

it’s my favorite time of year again. My ankles ache in nostalgic pain thinking about the thrill of the game. This is a thread where we can share thoughts about the season. I’ll start with a few teams to look out for.

The AFC South - there will be epic biblical warfare in the AFC this year. The Colts have a new head coach who is a defense guy, The Texans have a ton of talent and a chip on their shoulder, and the Titans are looking to repeat their powerhouse performance from last year. The only problem is that whatever team emerges victorious from this blood bath will most likely be too battered to take the ultimate prize from a more well rested team.

The Saints - amazing depth in the run game, as well as a healthy and hungry drew brees. Their main problem is that old division rival, the Falcons.

The Falcons - Matt Ryan make turn out to be one of the great quarterbacks of all time at this pace. Michael the burner Turner and Jurious Norwood make up the fastest RB team in all football.

The Vikings - Peterson and Favre. What else do you need?

The Ravens - Joey Flaco and Ray Lewis, period. This team has all the leadership it needs on the field and off with the steady hand of John Harbaugh guiding the way.

The Rams - Steven Spagnuolo, the man who masterminded much of the success for the giants over the past three years, has been given a team that is FULL of young talent, but has had leadership issues for almost a decade. I have great faith in Spagnuolo, I really think he can turn this team around, and he has some potent weapons to use and mold. They could have a winning season this year believe it or not.

The Dolphins - Young team, very smart on and off the field. The false start of the new franchise under Nick Sabin seems to have been washed away by the upstart success of last year. They had ample time in the off season to re-tune and sharpen their new look, and this year they are poised to strike. Their main problem will be dealing with Patriots and a healthy Tom Brady.

YES! Football is my favorite football.

That’s right, i said it. Anyway the Dolphins are looking great this season. They have lots of great players and added pat white which should be a perfect fit for their wildcat formations. He’s got the arm of a QB and the cut speed of a RB, simply perfect!

my only fear with the dolphins is a tough schedule. They start with the colts, chargers, and falcons to start things off, then they have to end with the Steelers. However, their only real competition in their division are the pats, but seriously I think they’re probably looking at a wild card berth.

Also, Brett Farve now holds the record for most incomplete retirements.

Pssshhh, everybody knows our Detroit Lions are gonna win the Superbo…hahahahah. Sorry, I couldn’t even finish that sentence with a straight face. :stuck_out_tongue:

Now now, what would the NFL be without Favre’s antics? lol

No wait I am not going to answer that…

Football doesn’t exist this year, GO AWAY GO AWAY

WHY IS FAVRE ON THE VIKINGS :frowning: :frowning: :frowning: :frowning: :frowning: :frowning:

And why the hall did that one doctor lie about his shoulder.

Don’t worry, you’re not alone. I miss TO. :frowning: He was such a riot.

I’m kinda eh about my team this year, they’ve been disappointing lately and without the TO drama, it’s just not as exciting. I do hope they prove me wrong though and finally play consistently.

I’ve been putting my Fantasy Football stuff together all day. We pick teams tomorrow, so I needed to print all of my league rules and players available. I’m the commissioner in my league(10 years), so I have a lot to do. Go Steelers!

Good lord Slick! A decade! Of excellence…

Jon Kitna will be starting by mid-season.

I ended up taking Brett Favre with my last pick(fantasy football). It’s a gamble, but if he plays only half decent, it will be worth it.

Pittsburgh Steelers will start to defend their 6th World Championship tonight against the Tennessee Titans. What does everyone think about this weeks match-ups?

I didn’t get to watch the game, but it sounded like a good one. I haven’t seen too many games where the Steelers allowed it to go into overtime.

It was a good game. I was a little worried in the first half, but we picked up the pace on offense and defense in the second half. We lost Troy Palumalau for 3-6 weeks with a strained MCL. That’s gonna hurt.
