Why is it $45?

Isn’t the regular one $20?

This is something I am slightly curious to myself

The GOTF steel is about $45 as well, but all the other Gibli movies (the rest have a different license holder in the US BTW) in steel form run closer to $20.

I fully understand the steelbook does cost more to create than a normal case, and it also makes it considered a limited edition cause of only one print run, but personally I feel that doesn’t justify more than doubling the cost of the regular edition, especially if there are no additional incentives

A literal perfect example of a series rerelease as a steelbook done right is Elfen Lied (I believe you have this one as well.). Not only were the discs given a remaster, but they also included an art book and the OST. The best part is it usually sells for $64 when not on sale. That’s only about $15 more than a normal series release, instead of the $25 more presented here for just the movie (Possibly remastered. I don’t have it, so I don’t know…) in the special case.

The Immortal Legacy of “Vampire Hunter D”

5/14/2020 12:55:21 PM

Here at Sentai, we love to sink our teeth into vampire anime — so it’s a good thing we’re rereleasing one of the most bloody amazing vampire anime movies of all time this month! The first Vampire Hunter D movie is, without a doubt, a must-see film for any anime or vampire enthusiast, and we’re incredibly excited to share it with you in all its gruesome glory.

To celebrate the upcoming release of Vampire Hunter D, SteelBook Edition, we’re looking back at what makes this one-of-a-kind film so… enduring. Influential. Immortal, you might say. Because Vampire Hunter D isn’t any old vampire flick, and once it gets its teeth into you, you won’t dare look away.

I do like that elfin lied set

I remember once upon a time when steelbooks only cost at most $5 more than a regular edition, and not twice as much. This went for all physical releases whether animated or live action.

Man, I so old.

Nearest place to me is an hour away and not in the best neighborhood. Other one over a hour people keep getting robbed or worse.

Vampire Hunter D Bloodlust newest Jp release looks the best it’s been but the sound during dialogue is still a little soft. Not as bad as other releases but still have to turn up the sound a little more then I usually have it at.

Shame still no English subs for the Japanese audio but at least the English dub is there. It was originally released with English audio and the dub is still pretty good for its age.
