How’d you get the Samurai Gun box? When I ordered it a few weeks ago from Rightstuf they didn’t have the box with the bargain bundle.

Does the Gilgamesh collection have the extras? I found out the hard way that the old adv thinpak didn’t have any :frowning:

I got it on Amazon. One of the options was Vol 1 plus box. The Gilgamesh boxset I bought was the red collection so I’m betting there will be extras. Can’t see why not. The green collection I’m not sure about.

Actually it would be a no on the Gilgamesh extras. Both of the collections used the same 5 disc so no extras.

That’s brutal as it means that there’s no way to get those extras short of tracking down all 7 DVDs, which while not too difficult (rightstuf doesn’t have them all, as per usual) does mean that it doesn’t give Sentai any $ and you’ll need more shelf space. So the only a trade off between size and art quality differentiate the Sentai green set from the adv red thinpak.

Those extras were pretty epic. Gilgamesh was a pretty good show by itself (except for the ending but the epilogue made up for that) but the extras set it apart. It contains the classic & controversial Stephen Foster production diary, it is a showcase of adv actors (some of whom were just starting out and are now big names in dubbing), it showed that adv knew how to run a premiere, and it introduced me to the hilarious Ghost Stories.

I can’t say enough about the extras, so I’ll again say that they should be streamed here on anime network, along with all the other extras that are otherwise lost to time. Sadly I believe that many extras, the extras to adv shows that Sentai no longer owns, are lost forever. It’d be kind of hard to post the commentary tracks to Bubblegum Crisis 2040 when Sentai no longer possesses the show :frowning:

Speaking of Samurai Gun, those “fun with audio” extras could be posted on here. Call me lazy but I’d rather click and stream then have to dig out and swap DVDs to view them all. It is rather hard to put a DVD into a smartphone or tablet

Lucky! Seriously, I’ve had the director’s cut bluray on rightstuf preorder since it came out and it doesn’t yet appear to have shipped. It is listed with “reserved for your order” along with Golgo 13 volume 3. I hope the blu ray comes before the end of April, when golgo releases.

Sadly the bluray didn’t come out soon enough as so I could get it signed by Chris Ayres, but he hilariously signed my DVD copy. For some reason he was reluctant to write hid character’s. name. Can’t imagine why

On a different note, why’d your copy of ef cone in so late?

He got his copy of Medodies, which just started shipping. The first, Memories, shipped several weeks ago. I believe he already has that one.

Yep got Memories a month or two ago. Melodies does not actually street to the 20th so got it decently early.

All that’s left for March for me is the Dream Eater Merry Blu-ray. I imagine I’ll probably see some of April’s stuff shipping before the end of March.

Oh, I misread the title. These titles are way too similar :frowning:

Gotta love RightStuf’s flagrant disregard for release dates. Greg Ayres was was giving us the askance glance of suspicion when we had the Blu-Ray of Broken Blade at Katsucon, until we said that RightStuf had hooked us up earlier. I was afraid he’d go off on us at first, before we could explain, as the man is hell-bent on his anti-bootleg crusade :cheer:

I’m not a huge fan of rightStuf and until recently I’ve only been buying in-stock stuff from them, but after hearing good things I caved and bought the pointless club card and placed some preorders. Sadly I’m still not getting the epic release-date breaking early releases that my friends and it seems everyone else gets on their orders :frowning:

I want my 5 extra minutes of content on glorious blu-ray for Mardock and I want it now…11 days before the release date B)

The early street dates can be nice, but they can also wreak havoc on a tight budget when stuff ships a month before you expect it to…lol. I also remember the days when blurays never shipped early, especially Sentais early ones, because Right Stuf didn’t have them in stock until right before or on street date.

I guess it’s a good thing that anime companies don’t require retailers to honor their street dates, with the exception of Viz, but that is because of Warner handling their distribution.

There’s a budget for anime? As Genshiken taught us (Sadly it wasn’t a Sentai dub), anime expenses come first, all other expenses like rent and food are a distant second.

Say what? That’s how it goes I guess.

The thinpaks having no extras was a dark, dark time for ADV. I should have known better back when I ordered my red thinpak from RightStuf, but they didn’t have all the individual DVDs in stock, and I hoped that considering how loaded with extras Gilgamesh was that its thinpak would be the exception. I was wrong. Now the thinpak sits atop the artbox with all the dvds on my shelf.

Tragic that the green re-release doesn’t have the extras. Glad I didn’t triple-dip.

BTW, why isn’t Gilgamesh on here? Also, it’s kinda brutal that rightStuf ships out ef: Melodies before it shows up here.
